Re: Back in America, how do I resume treatment?
Thank you for the reply. I have insurance and I've posed the same question to them, so I'm just waiting to see what they say. I've tried taping before but since then, I believe I've trained myself to sleep with my mouth closed. Wouldn't it show up as an apnea or leak event on the CPAP machine? My ma...

Back in America, how do I resume treatment?
Hello, I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea in Korea over a year ago when I was living abroad. Because of language barriers and unfamiliarity with their health system, my current treatment is CPAP which I am using without one of those CPAP companies that monitor you. I have just been doing it by myself ...

Re: Tossing and turning - is it ok?
Thank you for the feed back. I would love to get the software but unfortunately, I don't make enough money to even pay rent and shipping from the CPAP.com company costs about $75. Does anybody know of an option where I can purchase it and download it? For now, I'm going to try taping my mouth closed...

Tossing and turning - is it ok?
I've been using CPAP for about a month and a half now. I don't have any software for my machine, but I used a camera to film myself sleeping at night. What I found is that I don't snore anymore, there were no mouth leaks but I still toss and turn or readjust my position a couple times an hour. This ...

Re: OT: Any sucess with Prozac or other SSRI?
I have lots of experience taking SSRI's in the past so I can chime in here. Prozac is usually the best SSRI for depression and had the least amount of side effects. When I took it, I had severe depression and could not sleep more than 3 hours, like you. After taking it, my sleep became normalized wi...

Re: What are indications that CPAP can be discontinued??
I, too, lost a lot of weight. I did this before I knew I had sleep apnea and even though I snore less, I still stop breathing. Even during periods where I don't snore, I still stop breathing. I would say do a home study. My doctor let me do a home study for free where I just borrowed one of these ba...

Re: Why do some folks take to cpap so quickly and others do not?
I would completely disagree with you. When you talk about Compliance and the "100% attitude" you have about it, I think you are confusing "attitude" with "discipline". You said you bitch and whine about it so obviously, you are not 100% in love with it. It's good that you have discipline though caus...

Re: No going back...
Thank you to all the people who gave me an informative answer. I found M.D. Hosehead's answer to be particularly helpful, but am I in more danger of a night without CPAP since I have started treatment. To all the other people, please don't judge me. All I asked for was for some information and to se...

Re: No going back...
Now hold on just a minute here. From what I've been reading in these forums and my understanding of the science, I got the understanding that there's no harm in missing a night here or there. Things happen like power failures or machine malfunctions so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a nig...

No going back...
Hello all, After a month with CPAP, I recently tried a night without using my CPAP machine. What I discovered was that I am now conscious of my apneas. I wake up with a choke or snore and now, I am completely aware of it. This makes for a very difficult night (unless I sleep on my side, which is not...

Re: are you fully recovered after CPAP or still tired?Poll pleas
I'm afraid the real world is a lot more complicated than that. People don't get all of the data they need at once. Sometimes they have to fix one problem before another one is revealed. It's a process, a journey, a series of steps, not a switch that you flip. Anyway, I'm out of ideas on how to comm...

Re: Reasons sleep is unsatisfying on Cpap - Poll
I think a possibility is psychological habit. If we are so used to being tired, we might still believe we are tired even though we are not. It's kinda like when you lose an arm but there are times when you think it's still there. In a more general sense which encompasses habits, I think tiredness ca...

Re: are you fully recovered after CPAP or still tired?Poll pleas
I would be curious to see how many of these people who are tired and on CPAP are physically fit. We know the CPAP causes people to be fat, and I think a fat person would have less energy than a person who runs 3 miles several times a week. I am reasonably fit and I have a very low body fat percentag...

I am inspired by your post!
How long did it take you before you started to feel the improvement? It seems like you were always getting AHI scores below 5 which is a big improvement.

Progress with a Dental Device
My doctor has given me the option of treating severe sleep apnea with a dental device instead of CPAP. My initial sleep study showed an RDI of 47. So far, it has been 2 weeks and I have not been feeling any effects by using the dental device. I am still tired during the day and my videos of myself s...
