Re: Humidifier?

Get the humidifier. I use mine on the lowest setting most all of the time, but have on occasion set it higher depending on the weather, etc. You can always turn it off, when you don't need or want it but you can't turn it on if you don't have one. It sure beats a dried out nose in the morning with m...

Re: Cleaning

I wnet through all of the regime of cleaning for awhile when I first started CPAP. Now, I just use distilled water in the humidifier (78 cents/gal. at Walmart). Clean the mask with baby shampoo after every gallon or two of distilled water and let it air dry. For germ control I have been considering ...

Re: mask free loan program

Totally cool. I just found this thread. After almost 2 years on CPAP, I heard their are some new masks out there. I found one I wanted to to check out and just didn't want to cough up the almost $200 to find out I didn't like it. I think I'm going to give this trial thing a try. $14? Sheesh, what a ...

Re: I hate CPAP.

I'm sure many or most of the people hate the CPAP. I know I do. But, I sleep better and feel better and almost don't want to go to bed without it. I have been using this for 2 years and it took me several months to get used to it without tearing it off in the middle of the night. The best part for m...

Re: some cleaning questions

I never clean the tank and it looks brand new (8 months old). The mask I have cleaned a few times in the past eight months with a couple drops of baby shampoo when I happen to think about it. If you want to clean the tank or mask with the babies tushy wipes, I don't see a problem as long as you don'...

Re: Poll: How Often Do You Clean Your Tank?

Guess I can throw my two cents in here. When I first got the machine, I was diligent about the recommended cleaning, for a couple weeks. Then I got lazy. I have had it for about 8 months now. I use strictly distilled water and top it off every few days as needed and haven't cleaned the tank in 7 mon...

Re: Poll: How long on cpap? How old are you?

I am 61 and have been on BiPap since May, 2010. After my sleep study and discussing my symptoms with the sleep doctor, I probably should have gotten on it many, many years ago. Kinda feel stupid that I didn't check it out earlier. I can say that my sleep may still not be the best, but it is a whole ...

Fill the humidifier with vodka and you won't notice the leak and probably won't care, lol

Re: The Importance of a Good Pillow

I am a side sleeper and often roll over to the other side during the night,ll. I actually have found that I like a "firmest" foam pillow that I can find at Penney's or Mervyn's. They keep my head at a good angle and I can sleep toward the edge of the pillow and the hose hangs over the side. When I r...

Re: Apart from the comfort, are there benefits from a humidifier

I tried using my humidifier at the higher settings and hated it. Too, hot and humid. Just couldn't breathe. I set it at the lowest level, 1, and it feels great. Just enough to keep my nose from drying out and comfortable as well. As far as cleaning the tank, a couple drops of Johnson's baby shampoo ...

Re: Advice sought on pillow height

I have the same problem being an ex-weight lifter with the wide shoulders and specifically a side sleeper. I found a really cheap solution to the problem for me and maybe it will work for you too. I bought at JC Penney or Kohls the "super firm" foam pillow which is really not expensive at all. The f...

Re: Mask facial marks

I tried taking a morning shower and/or hot wash cloth to no avail. Am wondering if sleeping on my side is causing the indentations on the side of my face. Sleeping on my back is out of the question. Can't sleep that way.

Mask facial marks

I have noticed I am getting facial impression marks from my mask and the straps. It takes up to 5-6 hours for these to go away in the morning. At first I thought the mask was too tight and have loosened it to the point of leakage then tightened it just a wee bit to stop leaks. Still getting the mark...

embarrement with CPAP

I have read a couple posts about people being embarrassed or hurt from comments made by friends. This is just NOT RIGHT. People talk about their pace makers, hearing aids, dentures and everything else from zit control to whatever. So what is the problem? I just feel blessed that I am on CPAP and not...

Re: cpap newbie needs encouragement

Don't stop using something! I couldn't handle the full face mask at the sleep center, so they put me on the nasal pillows. Didn't like those too much either, but at least I could handle it a bit. Every night was a pain in the ***, but I just kept on having horrible nights and noticed that each night...
