Re: Oxygen Levels W/O CPAP
I personally don't think I'm a mouth breather when my mask is on. I did wake up with a completely dry mouth a couple of times, due to blocked nose. Naturally I had no other choice than mouth breathing. I'll always have a closer look at the O2 desats from now on. I don't want to miss serious events w...

Re: OT (Somewhat) -- I am in Trouble - Advice Pls.
I'm sorry to hear that, but I guess it won't get any worse and you'll be fine again soon, please do not try to think negative. If you really feel the beginning of an infection in your body; starting prescribed antibiotics at once, loading Vitamin-C and using throat disinfectants like Klorhex helps a...

Re: Oxygen Levels W/O CPAP
So how can we make use of our oximetry reports? By ignoring spikes and looking at the overall trend?

Re: Oxygen Levels W/O CPAP
NotMuffy; I checked the S9 data and signal is lost after 06.00. And yes, that first shock may have been induced at the very moment I ripped the mask off, probably using my hand with the oximeter. BTW, today I talked about these desats with a friend of mine, who is an experienced anesthetics technici...

Re: Oxygen Levels W/O CPAP
Thank you for your replies. I hope you are right and those are just artifacts. Yes, the grey line of signal loss is always followed by a sudden drop. I also find the numbers like 40 or 50 too low to be real. But on the other hand; - Why did those spikes appear only after taking the mask off? - Why d...

Re: Oxygen Levels W/O CPAP
NotMuffy, with that scale it is difficult to actually know if the drop off is sudden or not. It would be interesting to zoom in on the events to see what is actually going on. The second event shows a drop in heart rate, followed by an increase, but it sequence with the O2 desaturation seems a litt...

Re: Oxygen Levels W/O CPAP
I taped the mask on my face, at least that would ensure waking up if I ripped the mask off. In the early morning hours I woke up and caught myself trying to take the mask off. The reason was clear: my nose was blocked and I couldn't breathe. I don't have flu or cold, I go to sleep with a clear airwa...

Re: Nasal Pillows, Lanolin, and Software
Glad to hear it makes you feel rested. CPAP works for everyone, but works even better for some. And I guess you are one of those lucky people:)Jman2010 wrote:Hell, I'll scrape the nasal pillows off if I have to if it means I'm no longer tired all day and feel rested in the morning.

Oxygen Levels W/O CPAP
I've been taking my mask off unconsciously since the last couple of nights and consequently having bad days. I have headaches, high blood pressure, low energy levels, rather bad memory and concentration. I also feel nervous and depressed without any objective reason. Anyway, one of these nights, my ...

Re: Nasal Pillows, Lanolin, and Software
There's that little flap of skin between your nostrils, and just where it ends, hardly 3mm into my nose, is where it's sore. Swift FX and same problem here, at exactly the same point, in left nostril. I used Lansinoh since the beginning but couldn't stop the irritation. I guess there's already some...

Elena, that's really so kind of you, a great example of sharing with others
I'd love to have the black one, because hose covers are not sold here in my country. But alas.. I live in Turkiye, not in the US or Canada:(

Re: S9 auto filter replacement 6 months?!
The filter of S9 looks more like a foamy structure. Hard washing with mechanical action and hot water may do some harm, but only touching with some baby shampoo and rinsing softly with warm water; not sure if that would do damage. This process will not sterilize the filter, but it may help getting t...

Re: Annoying oximetry report
Yesterday night I was on a pressure of 8-12. It didn't feel too disturbing, I easily went to sleep. I couldn't record any data since my SD card is dead, but the AHI was 3 according to the machine. I did an oximetry check too. O2 levels are good, stable around 94-95 all night. No spikes except a few,...

Re: Annoying oximetry report
Yes, that's logical. I set the machine to 8-12. 8 is big change for me as a lower limit.
It may sound funny, but to understand how the S9 deals with apneas, I sometimes hold my breath and wait But nothing happens, the machine does not respond instantly. Or I can not hold my breath long enough:)

Re: New S9 auto has a low whistle...is this normal?
I use the machine with ramp function off and EPR at 1. I still hear the slight whistling, accompanied by Resmed's little Darth Vader sleeping next to me I still believe S9 is one of the most silent machines out there, but if it's disturbing, you could also try putting it in a cabinet. Have a look at...
