Re: Just diagnosed.

S9 is great if you have a pc to run the software (which is easy to get). You can plug the SD card into a USB converter and straight into the back of your PC. Makes it easy not having to lug your machine in with you when you see your doctor. The resscan software gives extremely detailed information a...

Re: Having trouble adapting

Practice using the machine while you're awake. For example, instead of watching TV in your lounge at night, put one in the bedroom, and watch with the cpap machine connected. That way you will get "used to it" quicker.

Re: Bad dreams... anyone else?

I used to get very powerful and disturbing dreams on cpap. They were so bad I'd wake up sweating and shaking, my heart would be pounding, and I'd need to get up and sit quietly for at least half an hour to return to normal. Since the cpap I still get the occasional dream, even nightmare, but they ar...

Re: CPAP and Christian Science

Christian Science first and foremost holds the healing power of God as the answer and solution to all physical problems. There's your answer. CPAP is not an attempt at healing but merely a way to live with the condition. Just like a wheelchair, or crutches. If god chooses to cure you at some stage,...

Re: Poll: What sleeping position/mask/pillow works for you?

Sleeping on your side/front works with a normal pillow if you bunch the pillow up towards your shoulder/behind you ear. That way your face protrudes off the edge of the pillow and the mask isn't in the way of anything.

Re: Why Resmed Quattro FF masks are superior to chin straps

My only complaint with this mask is it tends to ride a little high on my face and press against my eyes.
I'm wondering if maybe my mask is too large. Its a size large mask and I'm about 6'1".

Re: Newbie side sleeper mouth breather needs mask suggestions

I do fine sleeping on my side with my current mask (see my sig). Sometimes I even lie on my stomach, but I need to "shape" my pillow a but to make this work. For me a nose only mask couldnt work. I have bad sinus problems which arent going to go away without an operation, so a lot of the time im mou...

Re: Dreaming

In my case, I was dreaming a lot, both before and after I started with CPAP. The difference was though that in general the dreams now are pleasant, where the dreams before were extremely unpleasant, often waking me up shaking nervously, and needing to sit quiet or listen to soft music for half an ho...

Re: Why do some folks take to cpap so quickly and others do not?

Good question, and for me I adapted in a few days. First couple of days I had major problems getting to sleep, but about the third day, I fell off to sleep and stayed asleep, and woke up feeling wonderful. After that its never been an issue. When I first started I though it was going to take ages to...

Re: How many here do not use a humidifier

Ive been on CPAP for about 3 months now, and have never used one. It was never suggested to me as an option by either my doctor, or the shop that I dealt with. Not going to bother trying one either,I enjoy the cold dry air. Plus I've adjusted to CPAP particularly well. By about my third night I was ...

Re: Up at 5:30 a.m. EVERY DAY!

I am the same. I find I cant sleep when theres even a low level of light in the room. My solution was to get an outside blind that winds across and completely covers the window, and then some thick velvet curtains inside for good measure. I also keep the door to my room closed to keep out the light ...

Re: Newbie VERY disappointed in CPAP

I guess Ive been pretty fortunate with adapting to the machine. I had much difficulty sleeping the first night with it, and again the second night. By the third night I slept pretty much normally, and since then its been absolutely wonderful. Ive been on it now for about 2 months, and I feel better ...
