Re: OT: What does everybody do for a living?
I have worked as a financial worker for the county human services office for most of my adult life. I currently process applications for chemically dependent, mentally ill or developmentally disabled adults who live in adult foster homes or board and lodge facilities, and disabled or elderly living ...

Re: What is your favorite nasal PILLOW mask?
I'm having trouble with two issues: 1) The weight of the short hose tends to pull the pillows away from my nose. I've got it mostly under control by having the mask tighter than others seem to suggest it needs to be (but it's still very comfortable), but I still have to wake up and adjust the pillo...

Re: embarrement with CPAP
[quote="elena88"]Well, I have a friend that tells me CONSTANTLY.. that if I just went to a chiropractor, he could fix my sleep apnea and I would never have to use that machine again.. she is convinced it is something structural that is out of adjustment, and why dont I just get it fixed? My chiropra...

Re: Political Question: What do you suspect will happen...
My two cents worth: I determine eligibility for Medicaid for just the disabled and elderly. I have been doing public assistance eligibility "since dirt was invented" but just started doing the eligibility for elderly waivers and nursing home clients about a year and a half ago. It has taken that lon...

WELCOME!
Dori C. is also the partner of a CPAP user, and a very good resource. There may be more that I am not aware of as I am a newer member.

Why is it I can be in the bedroom watching TV or reading for hours with no problems from my allergies, but as soon as I pick up my mask, my nose runs like a faucet??

Re: POLL: Do You Have a Narrow or Wide Xpap Pressure Range (ed)
I'm still playing with my pressures. My sleep doc said he would set straight CPAP at 10, but my machine was set for 4 - 20. I was doing okay with AI's but my AHI was more than 5. I also felt I wasn't getting enough air at that low pressure. I got some good advice from members on the forum to start n...

Re: YOUR story how old when you first noticed sleeping problems?
I walked and talked in my sleep as a child, had night terrors, nightmares, sleep paralysis, started snoring around age 12. I could sleep for hours and not want to get up in the morning. One I got married, kids or pets would wake me at night, so of course I was tired. Once I hit menopause (early than...

Re: why do we need to change mask if working? medical reason?
I just received a call from my DME on Thursday about replacing supplied as I am at the three month mark in treatment. The person I spoke to said she prefers that people change out their hose at three months due to "bacteria buildup" and she doesn't want anyone to get ill. I don't buy the "bacteria b...

Re: Day time sleepiness, is it more common in men than women?
I knew I was always tired, figured it was from menopause, excess weight, demanding job, working two jobs at times, running around with the grandkids, cooking, cleaning, etc. Figured the sleep problems were from hormone changes since the worst of the sleep problems seemed to manifest at that time. (B...
