Re: Newb- Questions on the Process of Choosing CPAP
What does anybody think of the denture/pillows contraption of http://www.nomask.com? I'll also be very interested to hear some direct feedback is about that setup. I have wondered the same thing. I considered the product, but decided to see how I'd do with the Swift FX (in stock with my DME) first,...

Re: Full face mask a "luxury item"??
Has your friend already purchased the equipment? If not, tell him to check around with other DMEs. If he has, tell him to call his insurance company and get his Explanation of Benefits. If that EOB, which indicates patient out-of-pocket responsibility, differs from what the DME charged him, get a re...

Re: Upset Newbie, please advise
Well, I used my half hour lunch to call Lincare to inquire about a different machine (as mine does not provide data) and at first the representative acted as if she had no clue what I was talking about (data? what kind of data?), then she said I didn't need to know any of that (that that informatio...

Re: Need Advice (conflict with DME & Dr.)
It sounds like the question is whether or not your doctor wants you to have any ownership of your therapy. IMO, you--the patient--should be able to direct your therapy, within reason, and with your doctor's advice. Given that the only real difference between an APAP machine and a CPAP machine is the...

Re: ResScan 3.10 & S9 AutoSet summary data?
Problem fixed. How, exactly, I'm not sure, but it's fixed. I was messing with the "device settings" option in ResScan, allowing it to delete the existing data on the card. (I had copied it to another location.) I tried copying the data back, but when I put the card back in my device, the device made...

Re: Diary of a new Sleep Apnean
Try the new Liberty full face mask with nasal pillows. Very good compromise when you are a mouth breather like me. Surprisingly, with just the nasal pillow, I actually stop breathing through my mouth... I breathed through my nose the whole night (well, I think i did ) but I think I will need to get...

ResScan 3.10 & S9 AutoSet summary data - RESOLVED
I've seen threads here about people getting summary data, but not detailed data. The response to those threads has been advice to check download settings, because the default settings have the software user downloading summary data only. I have the opposite problem. I have set the software to downlo...

Re: Swift FX nasal pillow durability?
I got my FX almost 3 weeks ago, and for a few nights in a row, I noticed that more apparent leaks that seemed to originate within my nares, as if the pillows were no longer sealing well against my nose. My DME had supplied me with an extra set of pillows (billed against insurance, of course!) and to...

Re: Finally Got My S9.
Excellent! Glad you stuck to it and got the machine you felt would give you the best therapy. I've been very happy with mine so far - no 0 AHI's yet, but I haven't gotten 'adventurous' with the clinical menu yet, either. (I'm still running at CPAP 7cm.) It probably won't be all that long before I do...

Re: Adjusting an S9 to go above 20cm
Your tech is an idiot. There are no CPAPs that will go over 20 cm. (Unless something is "broken" in them) Most xPAP systems will actually generate genuine flow rates at up to about 26cms H 2 0 at sea level , though there is no direct setting to do that. This is so they are able to work hard enough ...

Re: Sleep study titration
Take your time and do your homework, machine selection is not always best left to the DME. My doctor was cooperative and wrote a script for the machine I wanted. Not everyone is so fortunate. Excellent advice! There is a lot of great information here in the forum, on the New User and Wiki links at ...

Re: Soon-to-be-xPAP user seeking advice
I read of very low "compliance" rates with CPAP, no surprise given mask challenges and lack of good support. ("compliance" is a terrible word - the industry needs to think "customer success) Yes, but is 'compliance' an industry term or an insurance term? I'm coming up on 1 week of therapy, and I se...

Re: How old were you when you got diagnosed?
OK, so the first official dx was just this year - at 38. But I got the first "That's not allowed" (in regard to snoring) from my wife on our honeymoon. It went from there to "You should consider a sleep study" about 10 years ago, then "I really want you to get a sleep study" about 5 years ago, then ...
