F&P Icon Auto review..Humidifier issue?

I am testing a Fisher-Paykel Icon Auto. I have been very dry. I have increased the humidity setting from 3 to 4 to 5 (range 1-7). Each time it gets hotter and seems dryer. The humidifier is using about 60% of the chamber each night (6 to 7 hrs). Leaking is not a problem. I have found other menu icon...

Re: Is my OSA/sleep apnea diagnosis a scam?

C-PAP MACHINES ARE GENERALLY A SCAM, WITH THE PHYSICIAN PRESCRIBING THE MACHINES GETTING BIG KICKBACKS. THE PHYSICIANS ARE REALLY THE ONLY ONES GETTING ANY REAL BENENFITS FROM THE MACHINES. THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION ONGONG BY THE AMA AND CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE CONCERNING THIS SCAM. Yeah thats why ...

Re: Sleeping too much?

Sleeping more than 7 to 8 hours is often "associated with chronic illness"...What does that mean?...too much sleep causes chronic illness? or chronic illness causing one to sleep too much? It's not clear but If you continue to sleep a lot more than 8 hrs a day, you may want to be evaluated for chron...

Looks like maybe "Complex Sleep Apnea"...central apneas brought on by CPAP.

Re: how good is RemZzzs liner to prevent mask leaks?

Remzzs have an inherent built in leak as they are made out of a t-shirt like material but I have found that it prevents the oil from my complexion from getting on my mask cushion. An oily cushoin is a source of leaks for me. For me a recently washed cushion works well but starts to leak as the facia...

Re: Max Settling--What Setting?

I believe they have a ramp or settling time. I don't know if any have both. But if they did ramp is where you start settling time just holds back the unit from titrating.

Re: Max Settling--What Setting?

The Settling time can be adjusted by the patient. The max Settling time is the longest Settling time they are allowed to select. Settling time is different than a ramp. If you are using 10 minutes of Settling time and an Auto set 10-20cmH2O then it will start at 10 but will not increase the pressure...

Re: Firefighter new to cpap, in need of some help.

Resperonics sells the mask you need, fits just like the respirator in the picture. It's called the Fitlife. I found it a little leaky at the forehead at higher pressures but it has been good for people who need a full face and have sensitive skin on the bridge of their nose. Being a fire fighter you...

Re: Optimal Pressure Question

In our sleep lab many people come in using oxygen from an overnight oximeter report. However after titration they often no longer require oxygen. I would ask if oxygen was used during your titration. If oxygen was not used and your oxygen levels were acceptable without it, it was the sleep apnea cau...

BigDaddy, what is a Resmed quarrell? I'm guessing they scented it to cover an even worse smell.
Sorry typo Resmed Quattro.

Re: CPAP Pad (gel pad)

Why is it scented? I hate scented stuff. Try this...I used an old cushion from my resmed quattro, cut a small strip from the cushion and used it on the bridge of my nose...it worked well...thin, flexible.

Did you need oxygen during your cpap titration?

Re: How does S9 record mouth breathing when using nasal mask

I think one of the points is that the data, the AHI and such, are much less reliable if there are lots of leak and this might lead to various problems with the data and the ability of an auto to properly titrate.

At a sleep conference I once saw a demo of a soft battery powered cpap unit that hung around your neck/shoulders for traveling. I don't remember the name but it looked interesting.

Yeah off setting the clock is a work around. Such high tech expensive top of the line equipment shouldn't need a work around but nobody's perfect...except my compliance.
