Re: Central Apnea's and the S9
Hello, that is correct the CPAP is unable to add the event in the AHI calculation for whatever reason, I would say if your symptoms return you should definately have another study done. And also remember if the altitude at the sleep lab was lower than where you live this can also add to a CA-I.

Re: Which law says we can't change our own pressure flow?
Hello, While its a good thing to monitor your own treatment, it can be dangerous to try to treat yourself. Lowering and or increasing pressures, obviously lowering pressures may lead to insufficent PAP for an individual, wearing CPAP 8 hrs a night, essentially may be doing nothing. Too much PAP can ...

Re: trying to determine whether my husband's dme is honest
Hmm....sounds like they accidentally send two packs of 3, and probably dont want to go through the trouble to take them back and to reimburse insurance. Too bad they made up a foolish lie about each nostril counting as one pillow!? Pretty lame, look at the packaging slip, it should clarify the conte...

Re: Is a 2 hr sleep study sufficient - newbie here
Split night studies are good study to have, if it works than thats one less study. usually can get the diagnoses and titration in one night, depending on quality of sleep, and severity. To rule out OSA there is no real baseline for it, if criteria are not met than you are free and clear. For mild OS...

Re: Support Group @ a DME?
I have looked into awake meetings, and will probably go that route. The meetings would gear more toward helping users with compliance and troubleshooting and education, and not push product and what wolud work best for that individual. Thanks so much for all the info!

Support Group @ a DME?
Hello, I work @ a DME provider and want to start a support program for CPAP users who can meet with a Respiratory therapist/ Sleep Disorders Specialist. I am asking for feedback on this to see if this would be beneficial, and if anyone would want to attend something like this.

Re: Buying online or use a DME – help me make a decision please
I recommend going through a DME provider, less headache and hopefully they have someone knowledgable with sleep, this would be very beneficial with any problems you have. I work for a DME and am a respiratory therapist as well as a sleep disorders specialist and help patients frequently to become co...

If you cont to experience "swallowing of air" be sure to bring this to your Physicians attention. This is called Aerophagia and is not normal. This is known to happen more with people who have GERD.

Re: POLL: Machine Pressure is not accurate?
Just remember altitude has a direct affect on pressures, as well as settings such as C-Flex when you test with a manometer be sure to turn the C-Flex to off or to 1 to get an accurate reading. DME providers should test this without charge.

Re: CPAP for Tracheobronchomalacia
Insurance will not pay for any equipment with out a diagnosis. To get a diagnoses you must have a baseline study on room air, then when you are diagnosed with OSA then they apply CPAP to titrate your pressures. If they did not first diagnose you before applying CPAP, this could very well be the comp...

Re: CPAP for Tracheobronchomalacia
Hello, I am a little confused as to why your sleep study turned out normal. There should have been obstructive apneas and or hypopneas all over the place. Do you know what your AHI (apnea hypopnea index) was before they applied the CPAP for treatment?
