Re: Newbie to group and cpap(bummed out)and waiting
I was in a similar situation. I knew nothing and googled everything. I read for hours. I knew what the tests were for before I was wired for the sleep test. I was not familure with the various machines on the market however. I was stuck with data capable machine with no way for the user to get the d...

I use off the shelf spongy rubber style shelf liner. It has the added benefit of being non skid and provides some vibration reduction qualities.

Re: Respironics FitLife Total Mask Question
Been using mine for a year now, still works great. The cusions are starting to show some yellowing now. I don't use pad wipes or chemical cleaners, just dish soap. be advised, you will have some fitting issues.

I would switch to distilled water, it sounds like water deposits. Also there are several bottle brushes on the market, from test tube size to the larger. These are, in most instances, made with wire and are very bendable.

Re: Full Face Mask That Best Stops Leaks??
Rather than tell you what I like, I believe hands on shopping might be fun. Using the suitcase/local services button search for the DME's in your area that sell masks (some are on the list because they sell things like crutches). Remember to bring a copy of your script if you would like to buy one o...

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start
I'm just past my first year, this is what I've learned. Knowledge is power. Being informed and assertive will save you money and time in the future. That being said, lets start on some time critical options. Many states have a contractual back out clause. As an example, Wisconsin, if I recall correc...

Hiya, posting your equipment by make and mod will assize and attract specific comments. The difference being saying having your head examined or saying looking up your nose. I understand these days the Docs can stick a camera anywhere in your body and do remote control surgery. Even little cameras y...

Re: Frustration is setting in..
Hiya, Welcome and thanks for posting. Many ppl here have years on pap machines. They willingly share as they can or are able. I liked this site/forum because of that. I am reading and learning as my time allows also. I don't recall being able to sleep well for years either but it's a starting point,...

Re: So It seems I am starting mouth breathing now and then
I'm happy with with a Fitlife total face mask. Have been for eight mos now. Its roomy enough to drool in all night. I love that part! You have nothing sticking up your nose so that's not a leak area there. On the down side it's big and most ppl hate it. http://fitlife.respironics.com/

Re: what do you use to clean your mask daily/weekly?
I use distilled water also so I don't have water problems. I also fabricate my own filters from better stuff than brand name pap suppliers sell. Every week or so I give everthing a good rinse with plain old Dawn dish soap. I preffer Ivory soap fpr my face, less soapy residue.

Will 3.11 work with a S8 Elite II ? I've been thinking about software for some time. Hand writing data notes is a bother.

Re: Insurance company can't tell me replacement schedule?
I my self was stunned by the variances. I'll expand. The RT at my DME showed me that different insurance companies maintain different ideas about costs. Some say it's a part that should last for several mos. and some say it's a part exposed to bodily fluids and should be replaced every use. The insu...

Re: On Medicare are machines rented or owned?
I'm not the expert Jules mentioned. I cant recite the codes or even where to look for them. I did read the info pack the DME (durable medical equipment) gave me and it said they follow the 13 mos. capped rental set forth by medicare. I was responsible for the copay (20%). Since my personal insurance...

Re: Going on six months-still learning
Ty, I have the charts. ResMed only lists their masks and/or equipment. The Mirage Quattro chart shows about 38 lpm at a 10 setting whereas the Fitlife shows about 48 lpm at a pressure of 10. I'm guessing to compensate for the 550 ml of dead space. I would tend to agree that the MIR Full setting woul...

Yes, both I and my wife have that one last twitch before drifting off sometimes. Not a nightly event that I'm aware of. no drugs or alcohol involved. I'm a cpap, she isn't.
