Yes, but... If I'm on the couch, I can't take the CPAP with me. I can try adding it in for the 8-9am portion, though.

Re: My latest sleep pattern: your thoughts?
I haven't looked at the collected CPAP data in awhile. I should do that, eh?Lizistired wrote:You are only using cpap 1/2 the time. What do your numbers look like? If you felt great, you wouldn't be asking.....

My latest sleep pattern: your thoughts?
Hi folks. Every few months or so, my sleep pattern seems to evolve and change. Of late, here's my ritual: In bed around midnight, sleep solidly till 3-4am with CPAP. Awaken, switch to couch, sleep solidly till 6-7am (no CPAP). Awaken, do 30 minutes cardio workout. Back in bed, sleep not-so-solidly t...

Progress, but still hard to get back to sleep
Ok, I'm at the 6 month mark with my CPAP. Overall, it has definitely improved things: The mask is comfy, I breathe deeply with it, and I've solved the various noise issues that everyone wrestles with. So, here's my routine these days: * Go to sleep at midnight (sleep latency is pretty good; I probab...

Re: How disabling can apnea be? Anyone disabled by fatigue?
Thanks! I already have done two sleep studies actually, and have the diagnosis of "low end of moderate" obstructive sleep apnea. The nurse practitioner told me that the OSA could be the cause of all my fatigue, the reason I've dropped out of college, etc..... ....but frankly, my level of functionin...

Re: How disabling can apnea be? Anyone disabled by fatigue?
Yep, it certainly could be apnea. There are also lots of other causes (a mix of psychological and physiological) that contribute to sleep problems. The hardest step--in my experience, anyway--is admitting to yourself "this thing is a problem and I'm going to need some help addressing it". Sounds lik...

Re: How many here are young, thin females?
Just echoing the other respondents' responses: Yep, you can have apnea without being overweight. I'm 32, male, and in decent shape (that reads like a personal ad, doesn't it!?). Anyway, here I am with a CPAP set at 10.0 as well. It has indeed improved the condition. So don't sweat it

Snoozing vs. getting up early: different effects?
Hi folks. The CPAP is working out decently, and I'm trying out sleep restriction therapy for the next few weeks. I have discovered an interesting effect of making-myself-get-up-at-6:30. Here's the deal: Old routine: Sleep from 12:00-6:30 (using CPAP), awaken for maybe 15 mins, return to bed and doze...

Humidifier not depleting?
Hi folks. It seems like my CPAP's humidifier isn't depleting properly. Normally, I have it filled between 50-75% capacity, and set the CPAP to level 4 (of 5). And yet, the tank only goes down by 1/3rd or so after 6 hours of use. It seems to me that at level 4 humidity, the tank should deplete more c...

Interpreting CPAP data: indices?
Hi folks. I got a copy of my latest CPAP data. Under the "Hypopnea And RERA Indices" section, I see the following information:
* Average Hypopnea Index: 0.7
* Average RERA Index: 0.2
* Average AHI: 2.7
Should the Average AHI = Avg Hypopnea Idx + Avg RERA Idx?
Thanks,

Re: Up at 5:30 a.m. EVERY DAY!
Hi folks. This is a very interesting and useful thread. I go to sleep at midnight with little problem, but wake up between 5-6am. I wish I could blame it on aging, but at 32 I don't think that's the issue (!).

Re: Still waking up early?
Do you have software to see if an event or a leak woke you up? Or did you roll onto your back, which resulted in apneas? Other suggestions: black-out curtains or sleep mask, ear plugs, some gentle stretches with mask and machine on, or just focus on inhaling and exhaling and relaxing with each exha...

Re: Still waking up early?
Relaxation tapes (actually mp3's.) Progressive relaxation, visualization, meditation. Takes my mind off of all the aches and pains, noises, mask discomfort, etc. Along with ear plugs. Really helps a lot, also for going to bed at night! I don't have any good ones handy. But there are free ones onlin...

Still waking up early?
Well, I'm making some progress with my CPAP. I'm sleeping from about midnight to 5:30am. This is still too little sleep altogether, but better than the pre-CPAP days of midnight to 2:30am! The mental trick--these days anyway--seems to be finding ways to get back to sleep between the 5:30am-8:30am ti...
