Chapped lips and full face mask
I sunburned my lips about 3 weeks ago. I've been using everything I can think of...chap stick, medicated Blistex, Vaseline, olive oil...and they are still very painful and chapped. I'm sure my CPAP isn't helping, blowing air on them all night. I turned the humidifier back on (wasn't using it due to ...

Re: a Newbie thank you!
Just hang in there! I think it takes most people a few weeks to really get used to it. My first mask gave me terrible blisters on my nose, but once I found a different mask, it's been great. Have you tried a different mask? I didn't see you first post so maybe you've already answered this... Good lu...

Re: Wondering what to expect next . . .
Thank you for all the information on Nuvigil. I was just in to see my sleep doc. today for my 6 week post CPAP appt. and everything looks really good. I wore the mask 93% of the time and my apneas are down to 1/hour. He was very pleased. When I mentioned that I'm still very sleep during the day, he ...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
After 5 weeks on CPAP, I can finally post to this thread! Like many, the improvements have been gradual. I am realizing that I now wake up feeling actually AWAKE, rather than in that terrible, sleep, heavy fog I used to feel. This week I even got right up a couple of days, rather than hitting the sn...

Re: Stupid mask... tell me that eventually it gets comfortable
Hi Steve, welcome! Glad you found the forum...you'll get lots of good information and support here. I'm a bit of a newbie myself, having been on cpap for about a month now. A couple of suggestions...check with your insurance company and see if they have a grace period for trying a new mask. My windo...

Re: Anyone try to make their own homemade Remzzzs?
I have been using a mask cover made by http://www.PadACheek.com and it's working well! I have the Quattro full face mask and the cover prevents the marks on my face. It also seems to help the seal rather than hinder it. It would be worth checking out.

Re: It's no bed of roses...
To avoid the "bridge of the nose" problem, I use as my primary mask the Respironics Fitlife (not to be confused with the rather inferior Respironics Fulllife) which covers the entire face Wow I have never seen a full face mask before, nor was it offered as an option to me. I'm curious...where did y...

It's no bed of roses...
http://m.flickr.com/photos/twistymedium/4509122329/ So here is what I look like tonight after almost two weeks with CPAP. First mask (nose only) gave me this lovely blister. Switched to full face last night and even using a band aid and comfort gel pad, the mask made it worse. I'm trying not to get...

What a wonderful idea! I have a 12 year old CPAP machine but I don't have the instructions anymore. Would it still be useful to you?

New here - finally on the right track!
I've had quite a journey with sleep apnea. I was first diagnosed in 1998 (at age 25). After trying CPAP and hating it, I had the surgery and it reduced my apneas from 32/hour to 16/hour (which was considered acceptable back then). I did okay for many years, until I had twins and gained 50 pounds tak...

Thank you so much for this thread! This gives me the hope to stick with it and hopefully someday soon I can post my own success story.
