Re: Day time sleepiness, is it more common in men than women?
Pre-CPAP, my Epworth was a 15, self-administered on a UK web site. I had sufferred from profound sleepiness between about 1 and 3 or 4 in the afternoon. I was almost unable to work and relished opporunities to close my eyes during those hours. I had had this forever, it seems, 20+ years at least. Kn...

Re: Leak Rate with Swift FX
A few humbly submitted comments on this thread: 1) Initial size decisions are made very obvious from the sizing video on Redmed's web site. You just need to hold just the pillows near your nostrils and look in a mirror. It's super easy to tell what size to start with. i've watched this video a few ...

Re: Nasal Pillow Cleaning
Re: cleaning... I use Johnson's Baby Shampoo in a sink of warm water for my pillows and humidifier every morning; it just takes 5 minutes. I just kind of shake stuff around and then rinse/place on a towel for the day. Once a week, I do the above for the hose, mini-hose, washable filter, and headgear...

Re: Tips for flying with CPAP?
I will be travelling for the first time with my cpap in a few weeks. I'm sure I will probably get flamed a bit but I will always make every attempt to use distilled water in my humidifier and would only go to tap in a dire emergency. Why? I don't want to inhale chlorine gas all night and whatever el...

Re: Are DME's supposed to fit you correctly?
In the end, a proper mask fit is the patient's responsibility. My DME will not leave a mask with me unless he has personally set the straps, etc. to what his experience tells him is a good fit. I really like this sense of responsibility on the part of my DME. After that though, I check here and ever...

My answer to this is "because the manufacturer's instructions say so!" What a take-charge CPAP'er I am!

How to read EncoreViewer reports or Am I a Mouth-breather?
Good afternoon from Cincinnati. I'm within a day or two of completing my 6th week of CPAP therapy. I won't gush about the changes I've felt so far, but they are not insignificant. I was wondering if there is a post somewhere with the how-to's of reading Encore Viewer's report output. Questions I'd l...

Re: Swift fx
Maybe the wrong place to post this, but does anyone know where a thread is that explains how to interpret the leak-rate information put out by EncoreViewer 2.0? I have no idea how I'm actually doing, but the FX "feels" comfortable and leakless as I am falling asleep. Thanks very much.

Re: How to make Encore Viewer 2.0 work in 64-bit systems
Thanks so very much. This is awesome! EV2 is now running on my Vista Ultimate 64bit thanks to the original poster!! Well done! If possible, can you please post the Register updates I need to do to get EV to show up on my installed program list so I can someday uninstall it (w/Windows) if I want? I'm...

Re: Swift fx
Hi. Why can't nasal pillows be like dentures? Have them take a cast of your nose at the sleep study, and, voilla, perfect fit! Logistically, the FX is working great for me, but my DME says I'm having some leaks around 2 or 3 in the morning and wants me to try a chin strap. He thinks I am opening my ...

Re: Hello world
I don't think 10 is that high. That's my pressure too. There should be no restrictions on the type of mask you can use with that pressure. The selection has more to do with whether or not you mouth breathe. If you do, you'll need either a full-face mask, hybrid mask, or a nasal mask/pillows w/a chin...
