Re: Bad hair day!!

Ah, CPAP hair! I really love it! I'm a guy, and I can't stand it. I got so frustrated, I went to a 3/8" "buzz" cut which takes almost weekly touchups (my wife is a former barber so I get it for free). I still have areas on my head where you can see the hair growing in different directions from the m...

Re: rescan 3.13 tweak for respiatory rate and tidal

Hmmm, if "normal" tidal volume is around 500 ml, or 7 ml/kg body mass, I'm a bit "low." I weigh about 175 lbs which comes to about 80 kg. I should be averaging about 560 ml, but my data shows I'm averaging about 400 ml. That'sabout 30% below where I should be. Now, maybe when sleeping the number sho...

Re: rescan 3.13 tweak for respiatory rate and tidal

Wow, that worked! I have no idea what tidal volume is, but it's impressive that I got it to work! For some reason, I didn't have to go into the Detailed view to get tidal volume and respiratory rate to show up.

Of course, maybe this is too much information...

Re: The downside of reading your own machine's data...

Luckily, I'm forgetful AND anal retentive! So I try and develop routines for everything. I had to develop one for getting the card into the machine at night. Had to develop a second one for cleaning the mask every morning. I haven't forgotten either one for a couple of months now, but it was tough g...

Re: Need a new mask..and help:(

I have a similar problem, but not exactly... I started CPAP back in March using a nasal pillow (can't remember which one...). It worked well with few leaks even though I'ma VERY ACTIVE sleeper. But after about a month or so, I became a mouth breather. I probably always was, but it became obvious whe...

Re: Uninterruptible Power Supply for S9

Bill, Thanks, that's pretty much what I finally figured out. I'm a retired, anal retentive engineer and I hate it when manuals conflict. Figures that Resmed is late. But since I AM a retired engineer, guess I throw together my own system. Let's see, the box to hold it; gotta make it look good to kee...

Re: Uninterruptible Power Supply for S9

Tex, What I hate about UPS is their capacity and cost. I don't need multiple plug-ins, and I definitely don't need an alarm to tell me the power is out. Kind of defeats the purpose... I could probably find one with the capacity and without the alarm, but again, the cost. Most of the computer ones, e...

Re: Uninterruptible Power Supply for S9

Thanks for the links. I looked, but didn't find much that addressed the S9. I did venture into the Resmed web site and found a FAQ on using batteries! However, I came away confused after reading the PDF file. Apparently, there are some major power differences between the S8 and the S9. From what I c...

Uninterruptible Power Supply for S9

We had a power failure last evening, and I stayed up late until it came back on to make I used my CPAP. Ended up not getting enough sleep. So I'm looking for a UPS. I checked out CPAP.COM but none of the their UPS or batteries include the S9 Resmed. They do list the S8, however. I called the CPAP.CO...

Re: What mouthguard and where?

I use an upper/lower mouthpice joined by plastic (?) straps that was fitted to my teeth by my dentist. I can't recall the name of the product but any dentist should either know of it or know how to found out about it. Mine is fitted to hold my bottom teeth slightly forward and apart; it's supposed t...

Re: Possible GERD: is here an OTC med to try?

Thanks again, everyone. I did have my thyroid checked back in January and it was OK then. No guarantees, of course. My regular MD has been checking it for years. He first thought that was the cause of my lack of sleeping but no problems so far. I picked up some Prilosec today. I'll give it a week an...

Re: Possible GERD: is here an OTC med to try?

Folks, Thanks for the replies. I saw my regular MD back in January and he thought the cough was related to alergies. He has me on Zantec-D OTC and it does help a bit. I also noticed that upping the temp/humidity on my R9 also halps a bit, but the cough still nags. That doc visit is when he recommend...

Possible GERD: is here an OTC med to try?

Folks, I've been experiencing the feeling of swelling at the bas eof my throat. I had some difficulty swallowing some small pills, but not on anything else that I recall. I have a cough that wont' go away, not always dry, but it feels like I have something in my chest. I thought that was due to alle...
