Re: Frustrating noises when breathing

Just came across this article: https://www.cpap.com/DisplayNewsletter/44/Whats-New-In-Machines-Series-The-Sound-Factor.html And it does sound like it's 'all' machines that do this now. But the Resmed seemed to not change when I turned off EPR, and as far as I can tell, the Icon doesn't let you deact...

Re: Frustrating noises when breathing

A couple of questions about your environment. 1) Does it sound this way immediately upon use? Or only after some time? 2) Is the humidifier tank full or empty? 3) Have you tried measuring the sound level next to the machine rather than very near to you? 4) Is the mask the same as before or is this ...

Re: Frustrating noises when breathing

You can use a white noise generator to mask the sounds: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41QCyN3TLgL._SY450_.jpg or http://www.hammacher.com/Product/77174 Unfortunately my wife can't sleep with those. I _love_ white noise generators. The thing that gets me is that my 6 year old mach...

Re: Frustrating noises when breathing

When the sound is coming from the machine, my first question is, "Where is the cpap?" A common recommendation is to set it low enough so that the edge of the mattress blocks some sound. This also helps to channel condensed water into the tank, instead of the mask. Unfortunately I tried that. No dice.

Re: Frustrating noises when breathing

Could be the pressure relief on exhale. Maybe your current machine doesn't have that feature and the ones you tried do have it. Not sure. Why are you replacing your machine? Mine is older than that and I still use it. I guess if all the machines make an annoying noise you could try turning on a fan...

Frustrating noises when breathing

So it came time to replace my F&P Sleepstyle CPAP machine for a new one, but I'm having a devil of a time getting an acceptable one. I really liked the Resmed Airsense 10, but both units I tried had this horrible sound like I was breaking through a snorkel (or I was Darth Vader). Sure it's quiet...w...

Re: F&P Sleepstyle 254 not working anymore?

Just to follow up, it looks like the culprit was my mask. Specifically the cushion...it got old. I'm using a loaner mask from the local company and my AHI is back down to single digits now. Still a bit higher, but that's probably still due to the machine failing to detect leaks. But I'm in the proce...

Re: F&P Sleepstyle 254 not working anymore?

I'm going to be looking into getting a replacement, but just for my understanding on how these things work... Why would I have, over the course of about 30 days gone from 3-6 AHI to 20+ consistently? And how would or could the 'flatlined' leak detection affect that? I mean, I'm even going to a press...

F&P Sleepstyle 254 not working anymore?

Since last fall I've been having clusters of intense fatigue during the afternoons for no apparent reason. Well, I think I finally figured out what it is. Turns out my AHI has been well over 20 for months, even while using my Sleepstyle 254. It is getting old but as far as I can tell it's still work...

Re: CPAP causing cough in the morning?M

Well, I've been coughing up disgusting greenish grey phlegm now for a week so I went to the doctor.

Turns out my lungs are clear, so I'm likely actually having sinius issues causing post nasal drip which is causing the coughing.

Re: CPAP causing cough in the morning?M

Well, all I know is that I've suddenly aquired a nagging cough that has lasted at least two days, twice in the past three weeks. No runny nose, no stuffed up nose. Just a cough. And it never developed during the day, both times I went to bed fine and woke up in the morning coughing. I wasn't cleanin...

Re: CPAP causing cough in the morning?M

Hmmm, this cough didn't go away and the phegm is colored greenish grey, so I probably picked up an infection from not cleaning the machine properly.

Re: CPAP causing cough in the morning?M

I've had two issues, but not at the same time.

1. The tickle-at-the-back-of-the-throat cough.

2. A congesty almost asthma-like cough that slowly goes away during the day. That's the one I had this morning.

CPAP causing cough in the morning?M

Three weeks in now, but twice in the past two weeks I've woken up with a cough that lingered well into the next day. I'm wondering what about the CPAP machine might be causing this? I don't have a cold, since it cleared up in a day, but I do have allergies. I'm wondering if my lack of proper cleanin...
