Favorite travel bags for CPAP and laptop?
I travel a ton internationally... 3 bags, which allowable, can be a bit much to handle. Right now my solution is to pack my S9 in it's case INSIDE a carry-on (22" travelpro). It fits (takes up some room for clothes), but requires me to open up the suitcase every time and undo the interior bag, etc. ...

Re: Reset date/time on S9
Thanks all. Moving forward I think that the "don't change the clock" option is going to be the best one. For now the clock is set to one full day ahead of actual time, and it's likely to stay that way at least until my first follow-up visit with the sleep dr... after that i'll probably either erase ...

Reset date/time on S9
Hi - I'm back in the US after 3 weeks of international travel with my S9 (started the trip less than a week after starting CPAP therapy... it all worked out just fine, especially once adjusting expectations for jetlag etc.). Here's my problem: I set the clock on the S9 to the local timezones (Kenya,...

Re: new dude
From one newbie to another: welcome, and as others have said, you're in the right place (last night was my first night on CPAP and I learned a ton here before getting started). I'll add one piece to the advice chain: get your hands on your prescription so that you have it, which means that you are i...

Re: UPDATE: Newbie Navigating the Medical/DME system
I am sooo impressed with how you're going about all this, George! And how well your DME is responding to your requests. You're doing a great research job, getting yourself ready for "cpap." Even if you hit the usual bumps and glitches getting everything comfortable enough to sleep well in this craz...

Re: UPDATE: Newbie Navigating the Medical/DME system
I would consider taking another mask or two (of different styles) before you depart. You will be at a severe disadvantage trying to climb this steep learning curve while away. By different styles do you mean an FFM in addition to a nasal pillow or something else? At this point I doubt I'd be able t...

Re: UPDATE: Newbie Navigating the Medical/DME system
Thanks again all - good advice on the travel stuff. I've got slews of equipment to handle the power issues (the work I do is all developing world) so should be set there, and will see how taking the machine through security in some of the more interesting parts of the world goes (but I have a lot of...

UPDATE: Newbie Navigating the Medical/DME system
(my original post is here: http://bit.ly/cLEYz5) Here's an update to the story... mostly recording for future newbies going through the same thing since I found that just reading through others' experiences was insanely helpful over the last week. Quick backstory: last week I didn't know who the DME...

Re: Newbie with S9 and Data Before and After Diagnosis
I went into this with lots of info from the start. My Dr. said I was not his typical patient. I am 32 years old 6"2" 185#. He looked at my throat and said he would not be surprised if I had OSA because my airway is low and small or constricted. Ordered the study. Night 1 with S9Auto on straight CPA...

Re: OT: Ambien side effects!!!
Yep, there are some interesting side effects possible. It seems they hit some people more than others... I've used Ambien on and off for several years for insomnia and pushing through jet lag, and only have had one bizarro incident after falling asleep (made a snack and sent a few emails on my phone...

Re: Newbie Navigating the Medical/DME system
Welcome to the forum, and kudos for doing your research before you get your machine. If your wallet can stand it, just get the prescription and order from cpap.com--you'll get exactly what you want. Then you can deal with your insurance scoundrels, I mean representatives, at your leisure. This will...

Re: Newbie Navigating the Medical/DME system
Awesome info, thanks. I found the "local services" icon pretty much immediately after posting... doh. May I ask which Ins. Co. covers 100%? it's CareFirst BCBS, but I'm not holding my breath on the 100% coverage bit. We'll see, but that's what the CSR said... I've now asked in writing, waiting to he...

Re: Newbie Navigating the Medical/DME system
and maybe out of network coverage is 0 % reimbursed Actually the claim from the insurance CSR was that out of network is 100% covered as well. I've asked insurance co to clarify on that. will they let you actually have the Rx in hand or are you going to have to fight for that? Unclear so far, but t...
