You can ask your doctor to specify the brand in your prescription and write "Dispense as Written".
For now, though, contact the DME and request to return the Sunset items and replace with Respironics brand. They may refuse, they are cutting corners, but it's worth a try.

Re: For anyone considering Medicare
You can get FREE counseling about all the Medicare supplement plans available in your area, how much they cost, whether they cover your doctor and your medications, and anticipated out of pocket costs from your state's SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program)--or in California it's called HI...

When mine had that message, it was still working fine. There was a Black Friday Sale on cpap.com, and I bought a replacement for a little over $300. Now the old machine is my backup. So as long as it's still working fine, you're good. But it is a reminder that it's days may be numbered.

Re: After 13 years switching DME - Any suggestion?
I have the best DME ever. It is ME! I lost my DME coverage a long while ago, and have been buying on my own ever since. I rarely need to replace an entire mask, I buy the parts and filters on Amazon, for absolutely NO hassle, and I have bought whole masks there too. As for the machine, during Black ...

Check the plug. Mine was plugged in behind the bed and I didn't realize the outlet was pretty loose. When we'd move around in bed it was just enough movement to jiggle the plug and disrupt the power momentarily. Moving it to a better outlet solved the problem.

YIKES! I think your roommate should buy you a new machine, hose, filters, and mask. Maybe he/she needs to contact their renters insurance carrier if there is one. CPAP.com has your machine on sale for $1004 today and it comes with tubing, and your mask is on sale for $105. There's a coupon for 25% o...

Re: New to CPAP - Ear Pain
You might need to play with the humidifier a bit to find the sweet spot that doesn't cause congestion that can put pressure in your ears. Also something to try, it might work: Put an earplug (e.g. silicone earplug) in ONE ear. Sometimes that helps relieve the pressure. I'm not sure why. Certainly if...

Re: Autism and new to CPAP
I wonder if a touch of aromatherapy might help. During the first year or two, I put a Yankee Candle plastic car jar behind my cpap. Pick your favorite scent, and move it away if needed. Cpap.com has Pur-Sleep products, but I prefer to shop with my nose (and spend less). For people with true sensory...

The sensory stuff is hard. We have a member who runs www.padacheek.com, and she sells very soft, kind of satin-like covers for masks. So instead of bare silicone, plastic and velcro straps, you have something like the edge of a soft baby blanket against your face. That might help your sensory issues...

I don't believe he will be incarcerated, but there was a character in the first season of Orange is the new Black who supposedly had a CPAP machine. Although the prop people didn't do their homework, and it was an oxygen concentrator instead    (which, incidentally, are REALLY noisy!!...

Re: Charged for CPAP purchased with insurance
What really angers me is that they charged my credit card without my consent. Thankfully, I was able to get the charge reversed after I protested the charge with the credit card company. It sounds like it was resolved then. Glad it worked out for you. DME's play all sorts of billing games. You have...

Re: Eligible for a New Machine-My Dilemma
Mind if I slide in this question about the water tank of the 11. It may seem like a non-issue. When you need water, just fill it. For my use, when I fill it to the max, good for one day. For day two, still good. For day three, I have to fill it even when there is still water in the tank. For day th...

Re: Charged for CPAP purchased with insurance
That was one expensive CPAP when you can buy your own for less. The mistake you made was not paying attention to your insurance. Most insurance contracts use a sort of "rent to own" policy, called a "capped rental". That means that they pay a certain amount a month rental, and after a certain number...
