Re: Apple Health (watch) shows lack of deep and REM sleep - using APAP -- why?

I wouldn't put all your faith in the apple watch for accuracy as far as sleep stages, and NO faith in the blood oxygen levels if you have them on your watch. I compared my blood oxygen levels with a recording pulse oximeter to the sporadic readings on the watch, and the watch was WAY off. Even Apple...

Re: CPAP not effective at high altitude in New Mexico

I have plain vanilla OSA, plus asthma and a heart condition, and I had a lot of trouble when I visited my daughter in AlbQ and worse when we visited Santa Fe because of altitude. But thankfully, I had good nights with the CPAP, and after I got a mild case of altitude sickness in Santa Fe, the first ...

Re: Be careful and track how long you pay medicare copay

You may be surprised to learn that Advantage plans are NOT limited to the 13 month capped rental original Medicare does for CPAP. They can require perpetual rental for the life of the equipment. And from what I have observed, most do impose perpetual rental, because they can. Why not? Medicare allow...

If you don't have blood oxygen on your watch, you might consider a recording pulse oximeter (inexpensive on Amazon) to correlate to the data as well. And personally, I don't think the blood oxygen on the Apple Watch is very accurate anyway. While an AHI of 3-4 is considered "normal", most of us with...

Re: Help! Shingles on face need new mask ASAP

I lost any CPAP coverage many years ago, and had been getting my masks off Amazon for quite a while now. They weren't playing the game about a missing piece, I never had to submit a prescription (it's been a few years . . .) but the masks are brand new, they came from DME's, in sealed packages from ...

Re: Lied to by DME (Apria), not sure how to proceed

Taking you to court is not an option for them. Simply put, doing so would cost them thousands upon thousands. Their next step is to send the account to collections. Upon hearing from collections, inform them you dispute the charges, don't owe them anything, Apria needs to take your to court and to ...

Re: CPAP at the Papal Election Conclave

Well, the good news is that their CPAP's only lost communication with the outer world for 1-2 nights, if at all.

What is the proper way to congratulate Catholics for the election of a new Pope?

Re: Anyone use hose lift or hose buddy system?

I have a lamp mounted on the wall with a swivel, and I jury rigged a hose lift system with a plastic clothesline pulley.

When I go to a hotel there's usually a headboard, and I use a bunch of looped rubber bands OR a dollar tree elastic headband to hold my hose up.

Re: Health Insurance paying for house generator

I work with someone who is ventilator dependent. She lives at home. Government programs have covered a whole house generator for her, because her life is immediately at risk during power outages. But I'd be very surprised if that's covered for CPAP.

Re: My son refuses to use his Cpap

He has to anyway with his other health issues and it's hard for kids to accept that. I can see him overwhelmed, like this is one more unfair thing he must deal with at too young an age, unlike his friends who can be carefree of medical things. You are absolutely right on this. I think the best you ...

Re: Newbie CPAP user with a few questions...

Dry mouth is also caused by mouth breathing, and increasing the humidity may not help, even in a full face mask. You mention you often woke with a dry mouth before CPAP. It's worse with CPAP since air is flowing through your mouth at a higher volume. With untreated apnea, mouth breathing can be caus...

It looks like you had at least 1 event in a 2 hour period. You won't see much REM in a nap, so it's not really telling us much. Your overnight graph will be more useful.

Re: Does it sound like I have sleep apnea? Apple Watch…

I'm curious, do you think ANY of us WANTED sleep apnea or to have to use CPAP? The ONLY way to know what's going on is a sleep test. They aren't so terrible these days. You can do a home sleep test in your own bed with a device that attaches to your finger. All kinds of people have sleep apne...
