Re: My son refuses to use his Cpap

He has to anyway with his other health issues and it's hard for kids to accept that. I can see him overwhelmed, like this is one more unfair thing he must deal with at too young an age, unlike his friends who can be carefree of medical things. You are absolutely right on this. I think the best you ...

Re: Newbie CPAP user with a few questions...

Dry mouth is also caused by mouth breathing, and increasing the humidity may not help, even in a full face mask. You mention you often woke with a dry mouth before CPAP. It's worse with CPAP since air is flowing through your mouth at a higher volume. With untreated apnea, mouth breathing can be caus...

It looks like you had at least 1 event in a 2 hour period. You won't see much REM in a nap, so it's not really telling us much. Your overnight graph will be more useful.

Re: Does it sound like I have sleep apnea? Apple Watch…

I'm curious, do you think ANY of us WANTED sleep apnea or to have to use CPAP? The ONLY way to know what's going on is a sleep test. They aren't so terrible these days. You can do a home sleep test in your own bed with a device that attaches to your finger. All kinds of people have sleep apne...

Re: Looking for documentation proving that CPAP is allowed as "extra" carry on on airplanes

Here's the policy: https://www.transportation.gov/sites/dot.gov/files/docs/AirTravel_with_an_Assistive_Device-Pamphlet.pdf It includes CPAP You can certainly file a complaint against the airline, the brochure tells you what agency to contact. HOWEVER, I assume you are making a round trip, and there'...

Re: Cpap tubing

Just so you know, slim tubing costs about $4 more than regular tubing, but "slimline" tubing costs about $30 more. When I had CPAP coverage with Kaiser, my prescription was for the slimline tubing and Crapria switched me to the regular tubing instead--higher profit margin for Crapria. Even when I co...

Re: C-pap and dementia

Has anyone checked the EFFICACY of her CPAP treatment lately. Waking up in a few hours to toilet suggests its settings may not be optimal. Perhaps if that is addressed, she won't need to wake up and forget to put it back on.

Re: Anyone with nose cartilage shaved to fit pillow?

I would suggest trying one of the masks with a nasal cradle instead of nasal pillows first. For Example: AirTouch N30i, Airfit N30i, Dreamwear, Wisp, Solo, etc. These masks have a wide, soft, cradle shaped pillow with a single long slot and they rest against the outer edges of your nose instead of d...

Re: Is Your Apple Watch Secretly Detecting Sleep Apnea? Here's What You Need to Know!

Apple watches are pretty good. I don't find the blood oxygen monitor to be very accurate though, and most people in the US no longer have Apple Watches with oxygen monitors enabled, anyway. The newest watches are supposed to indicate when sleep apnea may be an issue, but one big problem I see on App...

Re: dme monitoring fee

I'm on the side of contacting Medicare (IF you can get through to them right now) to see if you have to pay that monitoring fee. Medicare (and you and/or your supplemental insurer) pay MORE than the retail price of the machine, because the DME is expected to do certain things--monitor compliance, ad...

Re: Do I need a Sleep Doc?

Did you bring up the fatigue and shortness of breath with the PA? And still get "you are doing great, keep up the good work"? The problem with a sleep doc and/or PA in a sleep doc office is that they are focused on your CPAP use. Numbers look good, mission accomplished. It's one thing I hate about m...

Re: Am I screwed?

My AHI was 78, so I'm right there with you. I hated CPAP at first, and came to it kicking and screaming. But I decided I had NO CHOICE if I wanted to live. So failure was not an option. I made little, simple goals. I once saw a billboard that said "the best goals are halfway achieved when you set th...
