Re: Primary Care asking for Second Opinion

http://www.rxlist.com/restoril-drug.htm I am not saying it doesn't have the propensity to also relax muscles as benzos tend to be able to do that as well as control seizures but ........... it is for insomnia Sorry, guess I should have quoted my source for that one. I found a study entitled, "Zopic...

Re: Primary Care asking for Second Opinion

They should scope your nasal airway looking at your septum and also checking your turbinates for enlargement. The scope is long enough to examine your vocal cords. All of this needs to be looked at. I highly recommend it for all SDB patients. Should my sleep doctor have recommended all of this? Bec...

Re: Primary Care asking for Second Opinion

How was your mask selected? It's so complicated. I tried a number of masks at the office - many did not seem like candidates. I brought home two that seemed most likely to work - the Mirage Liberty and the Mirage Swift nasal pillows. I have mild rosacea, so what I tested during the sleep study that...

Re: Primary Care asking for Second Opinion

I found my allergies and asthma went down dramatically when I started cpap therapy. I guess my body likes 8 hours of filtered humid air . I'm allergic to so much seasonal stuff according to my allergy testing - from first day of Spring pretty much, to first frost. I use nasal spray to keep my nose ...

Re: Primary Care asking for Second Opinion

Thanks for all of the encouragement. It's funny because the the stress level in my life is probably at the lowest it's ever been right now. I'd love to be off of any and all chemicals (except for the allergy medicine - not sure that will ever happen!) I'll give the links and books a try and see if t...

Re: Primary Care asking for Second Opinion

The odds are very slim that pharmeceuticals of any type will help you become healthy. They should be a last (likely failing) attempt. Here are the first things you need to do: 1) Practice immaculate sleep hygiene. Nothing fancy, just the basics followed strictly. Mayo Clinic site is a good resource...

Re: Primary Care asking for Second Opinion

I've done quite a bit of research on UARS - research is what I do for work, so that's the first thing I did. It makes quite a bit of sense. It explains the chronic headaches and chronic insomnia, and maybe even the chronic cold hands! I did have a titration study. UARS was resolved with a CPAP at 6 ...

Primary Care asking for Second Opinion

Been using CPAP for about two weeks. I went to see my primary care doctor yesterday. I showed him the results of my sleep study and he was shocked that they put me on CPAP. He advised me to go see another sleep doctor for a second opinion. My sleep study showed that my sleep efficiency was 75%. Slee...

Newbie with Liberty mask causing lip irritation. Help?

I've had my CPAP for three nights now. I've got the Liberty mask and a Mirage Swift nasal pillow mask. I'd prefer to wear the Liberty since I've got a mouth guard for my bruxism, but when I wear it, I can't close my lips around it. I wore it the first night, but ended up having to take it off after ...
