Can CPAP thin nasal membranes causing olifactory whackiness?
Hi folks, Been using CPAP for many years. Two out of the ordinary things have happened in the last year, making me wonder if nasal membranes thin due to CPAP usage. I began smelling mostly chemical stuff, like darkroom (we have a B&W darkroom in our garage) chemicals, even if my husband opened the D...

Re: Newbie Needs Help Self-Titrating
Can you post your current therapy numbers. Without knowing that, it's difficult to comment or make suggestions. I have the S8 with the ResScan card and card reader; not exactly sure how to download data on the newer S9 machine. But if you need the software, pm. Hey Echo and others who responded: PS...

Re: Mask Choice for Newbie
I recently had my sleep study and during the night I had a CPAP mask put on to try. I recall it being one that did not strap to my forehead and I slept for 5 hours straight with no interruptions. I got my CPAP mask yesterday, but I never got the choice of which design I would rather. They issued me...

Re: Which law says we can't change our own pressure flow?
Roster, I agree with you completely. Any chance I could get you to help me do it? If so, if you'd prefer to go offline and email directly, please do, or I'd be happy to call you. Thanks a lot. My machine is 6 weeks old, and was introduced onto the market two days before it was delivered - I'm hoping...

Re: Which law says we can't change our own pressure flow?
here's an interesting and embarrassing AHA! moment. It happened at 2AM. I woke up because my nose was so stuffed I had to sneeze. It dawned on me that perhaps I didn't put the card in correctly. Why at 2AM, I don't know... why the doc nor the tech at Respironics didn't suggest it, I'll never know......

Re: Stupid mask... tell me that eventually it gets comfortable
I say try another mask. Some leak more than others, some fit one person better than the next, we all have different facial structure. Seems like we need to try out a bunch before we find the one that works best, and not to give up in the process. I'm on my 6th week and am noticing that one out of th...

Which law says we can't change our own pressure flow?
I had my first visit with my sleep doctor last week after starting cpap 5 weeks ago. He took the card and said he changed my pressure from 12 to 10.5. When I turned on the machine that night, it continued to say 12. I called to ask him about it and he said he'd absolutely changed it. I called Resmed...

Re: I hear myself breathing in and so does my husband.
I also had some nights where my inhalations seemed noisier. Everything people have suggested could help. I lowered my machine so that it's below bed level, (but not low enough to collect dust bunnies), but I think the biggest help was changing the starting pressure at a higher number. Mine ramped fr...

Re: cpap's turned me into a mouth breather after a month...
follow up - hopefully informative for newbies with similar questions about nose/mouth breathing: My nose isn't as congested as it was and I've gone back to breathing through my nose again. Pollen is terrible here right now, and it could happen again, however. The cpap, I believe, made me more suscep...

Joy,
I think that'll be my first purchase, the J&J tape, rather than the painter's. I do have extremely sensitive skin and wouldn't want to add that to the list of things to "fix" right now...
thanks for the suggestion,
Lisa

Re: cpap's turned me into a mouth breather after a month...
okay, so it sounds like #2080 blue painter's tape. I'm still hoping that if I can get a grip on getting rid of the nasal passageways being so screwed up I'll be able to go back to being a nose breather. I hear what y'all have been saying that it can change once the body gets more relaxed with better...
