Anyone get less sleep after starting CPAP?

My theory is that I am getting better quality sleep, so now after a few hours of sleep, if I wake and there is something on my mind, I can be up for an hour or two. This used to happen to me when I was younger, but I guess having kids and sleep apnea helped me to fall asleep and stay asleep througho...

Re: Help.. Is this real or psychological? Nasal mask and CO2.

Hi all. I figured out something else that helps too. Sometimes my nasal mask either rides up my face, or I put it on too high, so that my nostrils are too close to the bottom of the mask area. If I make sure the mask is low enough, I get really good air.

Thanks again all!

Re: Help.. Is this real or psychological? Nasal mask and CO2.

Thank you so much to all who replied here. I turned the humidifier heat off and it made all the difference. No more warm suffocating air feeling. I slept really well! Feel great!

Re: Help.. Is this real or psychological? Nasal mask and CO2.

Are you using a heated humidifier? The masks have vents to prevent you from rebreathing ( is that a word?) your air. So that should not happen unless you are blocking theses vents with covers, pillows or whatever. You can feel and hear the air coming out of the vents from your mask and should be ab...

Help.. Is this real or psychological? Nasal mask and CO2.

I need some help from the knowledgeable folks here. I am using a Sandman Info right now but will get a S9 Elite in a couple days. The nasal mask is a Respironics easylife. My machine is set for 8 with no ramping. I originally had some ramping but anything below 8 feels suffocating to me. I have only...

CPAP and Intimacy.

I have realized after a few nights on CPAP that I need to make a conscious effort to spend some time talking with my wife before sleeping and whatever may follow. Otherwise, I end hopping in bed with CPAP on and ready to go to sleep without much conversation. I think what I will have to do is get in...

When will the S9 be available to DMEs?

I was told that they won't be available for a few months. Does anyone know exactly when they will be available through DMEs?

Anyone ever relax so much that your mouth lets air out?

When using a nasal mask, I noticed the other night that as I was falling back asleep, my mouth was so relaxed that air was blubbering out. I had to make a conscious effort to close my mouth. I was only on a pressure of 8 too! Does this happen to you?

Re: After good sleep, how long before feeling fully awake?

Since starting on CPAP in November, I have been getting more sleep than ever...and I mean deep sleep. I have dreams (don't remember dreaming for years) and wake up pretty groggy in the morning. It takes about an hour and a nice cup of coffee to get me going now and I am a morning person. Great. Thi...

After good sleep, how long before feeling fully awake?

I did a search for this question here but couldn't find anything. Those of you who are successfully getting good sleep night after night, how long does it take you in the mornings, after initially waking up, to feel completely awake? What is normal?

Re: Which machine should I get?

How about the software? Do I need it with the S9? Will it display the AHI from the screen?

Nasal mask without a forehead brace?

Is there a nasal mask that doesn't obstruct my vision with a center support going up to my forehead? I know I will be asleep mostly when I use my mask, but just curious if there is anything out there. I do not really like nasal pillows.

The sleep center has a DME that my insurance supports that allows the sleep center to work directly with the patients. So I will never really come into contact with the actual DME.

Which machine should I get?

I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea a couple weeks ago. After a follow up CPAP night, I went from 39 AHI to 0. I went in recently to talk to the tech at my sleep center, they pretty much said I could pick the machine I wanted. He did mention that autos are for people with higher pressures. My pr...
