Re: Important Medical Question

My blood pressure got remarkably better as soon as I started using aPap.

155/105 - before treatment (February)
135/85 - after starting aPap (February)
125/80 - after quit smoking (March)
110/65 - after starting to eat right and exercising 30 minutes or more daily (Today)

Re: Filter issues

Just a thought... Unless you live in an certain areas with low air quality, or you're highly susceptible to airborne particles, then you need not use the white filter, as the black sponge does a pretty good job on its own... I only use them during pollen season.

Re: Leak numbers

Don't feel bad... I do have a sleep partner, and it ain't all it's cracked up to be! Anyway, since there's no way of knowing, I would assume that mouth leak is an issue, and attempt to deal with that first. Start with a chin strap (papcap is excellent) or possibly with mouth taping (sounds scary, do...

Re: Leak numbers

Sore nose is bad news... I thought that would improve, but my nose abscessed instead... The skin completely broke down. I had to change masks. It leaked if too loose, caused other problems if too tight. Sore nostrils are not uncommon in the beginning with pillows... You might try putting a little va...

Re: Leak numbers

If you plot your leak rate at constant intervals (say, once per second), and arranged them from lowest to highest, the median is the point in the middle. 95th percentile is (exactly what you'd think) the number five percent away from the highest, and the Maximum is just that. Obviously, your machine...

Re: ResMed Hybrid

I love mine... It seems to keep a seal better than anything else I've tried. I was having leak issues and the skin on the bridge of my nose was breaking down. It solved both of those. Been using it for about a month, and I'm happy... My RT said I was the only person he had that was successfully usin...

Re: Sleep Apnea Patient Killed by Colonoscopy

I'm 32, so the routine scopes are still a few years off. I had to have surgery a couple of years ago, though... before I was diagnosed but after I knew I had issues (put off diagnosis... stupid). My anesthesiologist knew my full history... he's my brother. He works at the community hospital where th...

Re: Whats the worst that could happen?

My RT didn't tell me to switch my machine to aPap... I promise... He didn't point out that my script was for cPap at 15 cm, but that the machine they gave me was an aPap... Nope. He didn't. He also didn't leave the clinical manual in the bag... My doctor did notice the difference, however, and after...

Re: Whats the worst that could happen?

Has it occurred to anyone else that we're the troublemakers for these guys?

Most people just get their equipment, go home, and use it, or don't use it. We're a select few that go this deep into our treatment. We are the ones that want to take control... Those who don't wouldn't show up here!

Re: This is all so overwhelming

Everyone's covered the advice in a better way than I ever could, so I won't try that! Just wanted to reiterate that it is worth it. I must admit that I had a relatively easy time adjusting. I felt SO Bad before treatment that I was eager to go. The minor improvements at first made a big difference. ...

Re: one month on cpap and more tired than before

More information would be very helpful... What is your setting like? Equipment (sorry... I can't identify the pictures too well...)? Tell us more about your sleep... do you continue to wake up often? Do you have access to your sleep data? AHI? Do you wake up sore? Would love to try to help, but can'...

Re: AHI Bump

Considering my old diet consists of eating whatever junk I want, whenever I want... I certainly could, but I don't think that's such a good idea...

If it doesn't level out I will definitely look for alternatives, however...

AHI Bump

My treated AHI has routinely been around 2.5-3.3. I've been on xPap since late February. Today I looked at EncoreViewer, and it showed my last two nights' AHIs of 5.1 and 4.1, respectively. Nothing I can think of changed except for my diet. I've recently gone on Body For Life (High protien, high car...
