Re: Not so newbie, story and help request.
I would wonder if you even have a choice but to work on your sleep hygeine. I sure need to work on mine. It sounds like most of what you are looking to get require money and/or prescriptions, and at least in in the states, we use our fancy insurance (not anymore )and prescriptions in order to get mo...

Re: does your machine slap you in the face
Well, 1) This is a 7-day avg, not last night's value. I havn't seen any way of actually viewing last's night's values, unless there's something that I'm missing, so, I don't think that it's that far from what it should be. This morning, it was about 56.9. It's probably a little bit high, but a 7-day...

Re: does your machine slap you in the face
Well, I just got about four hours of sleep after looking at the thing. The good news is that the machine now shows my leak avg over 7 days at 58.1 L/m which I guess is a little bit lower. Then again, I also heard somewhere that CPAP therapy is supposed to help people in our condition sleep through t...

Re: does your machine slap you in the face
Well, here's a question: can anyone tell me of a full face mask (since I seem to be a partial mouth breather, confirmed by my lab tech) with instructions that are a little bit more understandable than the forma full face? These pictures don't seem to give me enough detail to tell me what to do (did ...

Re: does your machine slap you in the face
look's like it's going to be between 29 and 30. The 7-day avg I have reported is 60.1L. I have twice the airflow out of that thing I need! so, I guess I was right, I have a pretty bad problem. Now, what to do about it...chunk the mask? Tape the exhaust holes? Tighten the straps until I whince and cr...

Re: does your machine slap you in the face
my mask didn't really come with a manual. It came with a trifold of bullets on how to clean it, and this illustrated thingy with pictures of a guy and some smiley faces that I think is supposed to deal with how to wear it. I don't really have any more information than that. Will surf for info, I gue...

Re: does your machine slap you in the face
But if you do have a Pro... it is fully data capable. I just figured that out. I surfed the web last night and learned how to enable the data screens I need. my AHI is 2.0, average of 1.9 over the last 7 nights, if I remember correctly from this morning. I think I saw a leak rating of 68 or somethi...

Re: does your machine slap you in the face
okay, update. I couldn't sleep too much, since I had another one of those 12 hour nights last night (read: this morning ) ! Aparently, My sleep specialist, who is so talented at giving me no information I need, also neglected to enable the data screens on my machine. It apparently requires a prescri...

Re: does your machine slap you in the face
A lot of us are in the same boat as you, but if you have had a sleep study then you'll have your figures at how many events (Apneas and Hypopneas) you've had per hour, and that will tell if you have Sleep Apnea or not. A usual person should have an AHI of 0.0. Me? I have an AHI in my sleep study wi...

does your machine slap you in the face
This is about my 6th night on therapy. Last night, I didn't really feel any pressure. This is in contrast to the first couple of nights, when I basically felt like I was on the back of a jet engine trying to flatten my face into a pancake. I don't know if I'm really getting comfortable with the ther...

Re: Newbie and Airlines
Don't forget that the pressure on board of the aircraft will be equivalent to that of an altitude of around 10,000' - you might want to find out in advance how that is going to affect your required pressure (more? less?). Some machines have the ability to automatically adjust the pressure for the a...

Re: second night -- what happened?
If CPAP wakes you up, that's good, but I'm not sure if I'm quite there yet, nor if I'll be there for a few months! And a quaternary school isn't entirely then environment where I can always control how late I go to bed. Nor is tertiary education, for that matter, which may have also contributed to h...

Re: second night -- what happened?
My father has been almost anorexic since my mother fell asleep. But I have never had a really good personal fitness schedule. My wife and I do believe that the wieght gain could be partially medical. We have both gained some weight since our wedding, which is strong evidence that I have an unhealthy...

Re: second night -- what happened?
I can only guess, as I don't know if you have a machine that reports data that lets you know if your treatment is indeed therapeutic. I don't think so. I couldn't really afford to buy this thing on a seminary student's medical insurance - you know, the kind where nothing's gonna happen besides a fe...

second night -- what happened?
Last night was my second on therapy. On the good side, I did not spend over an hour hypnotized by the sound of the machine whinning as I breathed (C-FLEX). Before going on therapy (like, two days ago), I had this tendency to stay up until very late at night (or early in the morning ) around 2 - 5:30...
