Re: Resmed card reader + software
HA! I've been Goggling for software, and found some of the answers to my abbreviations/words. Efficacy Data = capacity or power to produce a desired effect from the dictionary Leak = guessing times the mask sounds a leak VT = tidal volume = the volume of air inspired or expired in one respiratory cy...

Re: Resmed card reader + software
Thanks gpk111 , I've read up and down the list of questions/answers, but I still don't know what these abbreviations/words mean. Efficacy Data = Leak VT Resp Rate MV AHI AI %SPONT (T:100%) %SPONT (C:) Sorry to be such a twit, but other than Leak and possibly Resp Rate, it's all Greek to me. Patt

Re: Resmed card reader + software
Software is most helpful when you need troubleshoot because is shows you when things happen. For instance, without software, I would never know that most of my apnea are recorded when I have massive leaks. Thanks, OZIJ, that makes a lot of sense regarding the need for software. See, I'm learning ne...

Re: Resmed card reader + software
Perhaps I'm totally off my rocker, but I can re-set my Resmed device, I just don't know what I'm doing, so it's trial and error for me. I don't have any software, but I figured out how to manipulate the buttons like the DME does, it's a lot like setting an old digital type watch, which I still happe...

Re: Anyone in Tampa, FL area?
I thought that using the CPAP would help a person lose weight. That with more rest and less stress, one would have more energy and thus burn some of that sleepy stored fat. Of course, one must also do the usual, eat better and move more. Why would you stop the treatment, lose weight, then what, star...

Re: Deviated Septum - who knew?
I figured out what makes my mask feel like it's breathing. Apparently, it's the according effect which is typical with a bi-level PAP device. I still don't know how to read the full data that I can collect from my device. Is this information somewhere on this terrific site, and I just haven't found ...

Deviated Septum - who knew?
This morning, about 4:30am I realized I was only breathing though one nostril; the left one was taking a break, and I don't have a cold. Hum, I think it's been taking a break since I was a kid and at 65, that's a long time . Now I know why the nose pillows don't work for me. I kept saying that the l...

Amen to the time change enigma. I wonder if I will live long enough to see it disappear?
I hope it does what ever folks, who make the rules, expect the hour change to do. I would be sad to think this was all just a joke.

Re: Newbie self educate before Dr's appointment.
Thanks Rested Gal, Dave 21, and Slinky, Your encouragement means more to me than you can imagine, and the worthwhile information and vocabulary are priceless. I took my education on the road yesterday. I found a DME that sells Resmeds and Resonics. I tossed out a few words like VPAP, BPAP, APAP, ful...

Re: Newbie self educate before Dr's appointment.
WOW, I have read so much on the CPAP topic, I think I'm on over load. Even though I haven't posted for a few days, it's not because I have stopped researching. I am so grateful for all the information. I have learned so much! One thing I learned has nothing to do with CPAPs per se, it has to do with...

Re: Newbie self educate before Dr's appointment.
Thanks Dreamdriver and JohnBFisher, Foresure, I didn't know about driving and not using one's CPAP was against the law. Will certainly use this to my DH's advantage. I only had one night's experience with a CPAP, or should I say 5 hours. After about 45 minutes, I yelled out, "Is it suppose to be thi...

Re: Newbie self educate before Dr's appointment.
Thanks, Scrapper, for your advice. I have copied your thoughts onto my documents so I can read them off line too. I licked on the links you provided and noticed the software link reads that the software is no longer available. Just thought I'd mention it. I think without your information, I wouldn't...

Newbie self educate before Dr's appointment.
Hello to everyone, this is a very informative site, been reading the posts and enjoying the teasing. I've had 2 sleep studies and the next step is to visit the Dr. and find out what my wavy lines mean. I've learned the hard way that it is best to self educate one's self as much as possible before vi...
