Re: How many folks do you know on cpap outside this board?

I know of at least 3 people definitely; one who's compliant. I'm pretty certain my father has sleep apnea, although you'd never get him in for a sleep study! He's had a very close call with his blood pressure, and has diabetes.

Re: OSA, Driving and Government Run Amuk

Now this is a scary story! I thought about the fact that I have OSA when I tested for my cdl last year. But, I only drive for field trips, so that's a little different, I guess. However, I am working on lowering my bp, because I know my doc will not sign my 2 year certificate if it's not within the ...

Re: Nuvigil

Sunny, I'm glad that Nuvigil has worked for you! Unfortunately, my $#^&*$@@^&**( insurance company wouldn't allow the prescription my doc wrote to be filled without "prior authorization". What is a prescription anyway, may I ask?? It is like an act of Congress to get a human being at my doctor's off...

Re: Recliner sleeping

If I am very tired, and happen to be watching tv, I may fall asleep in the recliner. Then wake up very disoriented and have to drag myself off to the bed and my friend the cpap!

Re: Nuvigil

K, My pressure is not really that high. I kinda played around with the pressure, and I don't think that raising the pressure is helping with the mask problem. I'm perfectly happy with my machine, although getting some data would be nice; it's 4 years old and it does what it's supposed to do. I'm goi...

Re: Nuvigil

are you still using your old mask? perhaps you need a new cushion. Actually, I've only had this mask and cushion since March. You reckon it's gone south this quickly? I went to another DME this afternoon, and their suggestion was to try a different type of mask, which I'm leery of doing at this poi...

Re: how do you feel during the day?

Depends on the day, I suppose. There are days, where driving to my 2nd job, I feel like I am going to fall asleep while driving there....which is exactly one of the reasons why I had the sleep study in the first place! And, why the dr. wants me to try Nuvigil along w/my cpap therapy. But I'd sure ra...

Re: Nuvigil

Mary, I wear a ResMed UltraMirage FFM, Medium. What puzzles me about this whole thing is that I never really had trouble with it before until I stopped using the machine, then came back to using it. I would have a few problems, but could always resolve them. Now? Anytime I turn over I have to fix th...

Nuvigil

I saw my PCP today as a follow-up. I have been complaining about my mask leaking, talked with the tech at the sleep lab and she suggested it was time for a new titration. I simply can't afford that right now. In any case, due to some unsatisfactory bp numbers, my pcp wants to wait on the titration f...

Re: sleeping positions

Not sure if I should be posting, considering I've been having such a horrible time with my mask, but......I sleep on my side, always have, even before I was diagnosed w/sleep apnea. I have back problems, so stomach sleeping is out, and back sleeping? Absolutely not! So, I tuck the hose above my pill...

Re: Is anyone trying to lose weight?

I have made a commitment to try, after today's follow-up w/my PCP and my bp was elevated, once again. I've got to do something about this, because I know when I weigh less, my bp is not as elevated. Now I am in no way saying that a little weight loss will get me off of the cpap machine. I'm pretty m...

Re: Possible GERD: is here an OTC med to try?

Not that I am a doc, so take this with a grain of salt.....my persistent cough from last summer turned out to be acid reflux. I started coughing in mid June and wasn't diagnosed until August. This was after a lot of different types of tests. When I went for my last check-up w/the ENT back in March, ...
