Re: A theory about dry mouth
...The reason you mouth dries is that air blows into your mouth - even when you tape -- sometimes more, sometimes less, and its the air movement that dries our tissues faster than out salivary glands can humidify them. Think of the drying effect of a fan - .... This explanations sounds the most rea...

Re: Resmed auto EPR technical question
I disagree. Apneas often happen at end of exhalation. That is why exhale pressure is generally considered the pressure for preventing apneas. And that is why a bilevel titration raises EPAP to get rid of apneas and raises IPAP to get rid of hypopneas. At least, that is my understanding. http://www....

Re: autopap blows bursts of air at me when awake
re: "I take forever to get to sleep, between one to four hours.. two hours or more is normal.." In my book, this is more of a problem than any burst of air, and is certainly not normal. Try improving your sleep patterns...going to bed later when you are more tired maybe, or if after 20-30 minutes yo...

Re: Resmed auto EPR technical question
Kurtr, re: "My question is on some people, does the EPR algorithm not function well to correct the apneas." EPR is strictly used to enhance your comfort . It does not affect you apneas because it only lowers the pressure when you exhale. You cannot have an apnea event while you exhale. Only the pres...

Re: Shut machine off?
I never shut off my machine. When I need to go for a pee or something I either unplug the mask or just remove it. The machine has auto-off and auto-on. It records a large leak for a few seconds when I take the mask off, but this is of no concern. The leak data that I am concerned with is the 95 perc...

Re: Mirage Activa?
Rosacer, 0.06 l/min is excellent for the LT as far as leakage goes. It can go up to 25 before it becomes an issue. I have never had a "zero" leak night. There is always some leakage but as long as it`s below 25, all is well.rosacer wrote:... I have had unable to stops leaks with LT (0.06 l/min)...

Re: Accuracy and Value of Titration Studies?
It seems that if you have experience with these things, then the advice to interview your sleep team/lab can probably render a more meaningful titration. But this only applies to the few, or so I think. Personally, when I went to my titration, I basically didn't know anything about anything. They ho...

Re: Mirage Activa LT: headaches!
... The mask moves with every breath I take, sorta like push ups on my face... Beth I use this mask too and have this same problem of mask movement. I don't get headaches though, just a sore nose. I'm thinking of trying it without EPR. This should stop these pushups and allow my nose to heal. As fa...

Sore nose with nasal mask
Good morning all, I am in the process of developping a permanent wound just at the top of my nose between my eyes. I use an Activa LT nasal mask. I have tried a silicone comfort pad but it was so big ...it went into my eyes. So I trimmed it down but it is so thick it caused a lot of leakage. So I am...

Re: severe neck & upper back problems
Hi, Well I'm pretty new at this being on the hose only for about 6 weeks now, but I too developped a terrible sore back. Before CPAP, I used to thrash around in the bed an awful lot . Now, because of the mask I'm more motionless then ever before. Plus, I am sleeping a lot more soundly so that too re...

Question about mask setting on unit
Hello, I was going through the various settings on my machine the other day and noticed the mask setting was wrong. It was set to "swift" but I use an "activa LT" . So I made the correction. But I am wondering does this have any effect on the way the CPAP machine delivers? It is set to 14cm H2O. Is ...
