Re: Pillar procedure effectiveness

I had the Pillar Procedure done a few years ago out of pocket for around $1200. They were only doing 3 strips at the time. The procedure was quick and relatively painless. I don't have a before and after sleep study to reference, but by my subjective opinion, I didn't notice a difference either way....

Re: Anyone carried out tests between Auto and fixed pressures?

Here's the way I look at it. APAPs RESPOND to events. If you have an event, you've probably had your sleep disturbed. The trick is to run the machine at a pressure where you don't have the events in the first place! I have an APAP for the data, but I generally run it at a straight 12cm, which doesn'...

What is a used PR System One Auto worth?

I'm trying to get my DME to swap out my very lightly used PR System One Auto (and humidifier) with an S9 (the PR just doesn't provide enough humidity for my needs), but I'm not sure that they will do it. They don't even have the S9s in stock right now, which makes matters even more complicated. If I...

Re: S9 Humidity

Thanks Arizona-Willie. That's what I needed to hear. I'm going to talk to my DME today as see what I need to do to join the S9 club. Wish me luck.

Re: What do you do with your old machines?

I donated a couple of machines and masks to the Reggie White Sleep Foundation. They will take machines older than 3 years old as long as they are in good working order. It's definitely a shame to waste them, particularly since many on this forum probably upgrade from machines that still have plenty ...

Re: Adrenal Fatigue

Have you considered hypoglycemia? Blood sugar problems run in my family and I've found that I do much better when I avoid refined carbohydrates. Many of the symptoms, although not all, that you mention are common with hypoglycemia. I've also begun sleeping much better once I gave up refined carbohyd...

Re: S9 Humidity

With the heated hose and larger capacity, the S9's humidifier is definitely a vast improvement over the PR System One. What concerns me is that I generally like to use about 300ml of water per night, and I haven't heard of any S9 users that have used that much. I worry that the heater plate may just...

S9 Humidity

S9 Owners, I'm thinking of getting an S9, but I'm a little concerned about the humidity system, as I got burned by the limited humidity provided by the PR System One due to its anti-rainout feature. What is the most humidity (percent of the reservoir capacity) that y'all have been able to get out of...

Re: UARS Machine Suggestions

Thanks for the info. That's an interesting study. I think I've just lost all faith in the auto machines (at least when they're in auto mode)! I usually run mine at a constant pressure anyway. Maybe I should have more faith in how I feel than in what the charts show. (I have the software for my M Ser...

S9 Reviews

S9 users, can we get some reviews of the latest and greatest toy? Here are some points I'm particularly curious about: 1. Are there any lights that stay on all night that would potentially need to be covered by those who are light sensitive? 2. Does the machine, like the PR One, send out puffs of ai...

Re: UARS Machine Suggestions

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure what is the source of my UARS. I've had the Pillar Procedure done and didn't notice much of a difference. I've also had my tonsils removed, my deviated septum straightened, and my turbinates trimmed, which made the use of CPAP possible. I have an M Series Auto th...

UARS Machine Suggestions

I'm a long-time CPAP user who is in the process of getting some new equipment. Does anybody have any theories on what auto machines are the best at treating UARS?
