Re: Green fuels cause more harm than fossil fuels
Lets use half our corn to make biofuel.... sorry about driving the price of food up. Oh well, it makes us feel good to use "sustainable" fuels, sorry that some people will have to starve so we can feel all green....... Seriously, GREEN is the new RED.

Re: Ready to Give up! Can't sleep! Feel worse!
My DME asked me how I was doing and how many hours I kept my mask on when I first started using it. I told him it was fine and I used it whenever I was sleeping, all night every night. The key was my wife for six months before I got the mask would punch me in the back or shake my head when I was sno...

Re: Not sleeping on the sofa
Are you sure you aren't putting the mask on too tight. I had the same problem the first night, and then I took some time to make the mask as loose as possible without leaks. The first night, if I rolled over and felt a leak I cranked the mask tighter.... mistake. Now I find a different position or j...

Toughest Guy on CPAP
I am on a super basic machine, a Respironics Sleep Easy at a setting of 12. There is a similar model with CFlex which I think is probably better, but I got used to the one I"m on pretty quick and really don't think I'm going to bother changing it to one with Cflex. Any other folks on here who don't ...

Re: mice on bed?
cats put their paws over the exhaust vents on your mask too and try to kill you at least this one did http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa63/jules_jules_jules/dotraid.jpg I always heard that cats do try and "suck" the breath out of babies.... so I'm not surprised they are developing schemes of dis...

Re: Need arguments for DME
You are way ahead of the curve just by reading this site. Just getting the lingo down will make you so much better prepared. The other key piece of knowledge is that the DME is a PROFIT seeking organization. It is up to YOU to make sure you get the right equipment your doctor specified. Take lots of...

Re: Do I need data on my CPAP?
THANKS MUCH FOR ALL YOUR RESPONSES. I am going to try and step up a bit if the DME will allow it. I do like the convenience of a built in humidifier.

Do I need data on my CPAP?
I was diagnosed with mild apnea after my sleep study. I went because my very loud snoring was driving my wife crazy. I don't feel sleepy during the day and did not have any other symptoms. My DME provided me with a Respironics SleepEasy 2 which seems fine. However, I have been reading post after pos...

Re: Man that headgear strap hurts my neck
there is nothing to stop you from taking scissors to the head gear and sewing it back together so that it hits higher on the back of the neck! One thing I like about the hybrid is that it has a strap across the top to adjust things with. except most guys if they cut the strap with the intension of ...

Re: Do you use both full face and nasal mask ?
Thanks. That is exactly what I was wondering. I sort of wish my sleep study would have included both types of masks, but once i told them I am congested sometimes they just chose the full face type, and never even asked me anything. Oh well.

Do you use both full face and nasal mask ?
I was wondering if there are some folks that have both a full face mask and a nasal mask. I just started therapy and use a full face since I am sometimes congested. Also, if you do, I assume that pressure setting is the same for either type mask? All questions I should have asked my DME or sleep doc...

Re: nose sores - ugly subject
I am just starting my therapy and my nose got red and sore on the bridge the first night. I think I was applying the mask with too much tightness, and have loosened it up the last couple and it is getting a little better. I read on here that a little leakage isn't necessarily horrible, so that has a...

Re: Throwing money away
Senator Cuburn (practicing MD as well) attended the round table meeting headed by Pres Obama, and said that instead of creating more government programs, we should focus on WASTED dollars. He noted that fraud alone counts for about $400 billion annually in Medicaid alone!!!! He said we should go aft...

Re: Wipes
Great info. I am sure that the cheapest way to go is to mix the solution, but being an American, I prefer a faster and easier method so I will buy wipes. Also, being thrifty I will buy the Clorox non-bleach wipes. Probably the same as the ones sold by the DMEs for 500% more money! I'll post if my ma...
