Re: OT - You betcha!
Fox News, Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, Beck, etc, are all working hard to insure that "a government of the corporate special interests, by the corporate special interests and for the corporate special interests shall not perish from the face of the Earth". I'd say more but I gotta get back to work be...

Re: My Swift LT is starting to bug me
I have the same problems with my Swift LT. I've been using mine for two months now. I like that the mask is light and quiet. However, If I tighten up the straps so that the mask doesn't leak, the tip of my nose gets very irritated. I go to work in the next morning looking like some strange cross bet...

Re: Sleep Apnea Insults?
I remember an old episode of The Soprano's. Junior was under house arrest at the time was being fitted by an RT with a CPAP mask. Tony says, "Hey, Uncle Jun. How many MIGs you down this week?" A couple weeks ago, my girlfriend (who also has OSA) and I had just masked up. I was just about to turn out...

Re: cpap "phones home"
As far as the one-stop shopping... I agree that a conflict of interest can be a problem. Would the doctor want to prescribe an expensive Auto-PAP that they get reimbursed the same amount for as a crummy, bottom of the line CPAP? On the other hand, a good doctor who is affiliated with a DME may have...

Re: cpap "phones home"
I suppose, if they' must keep tabs on me, the transceiver is a convenient way to do it. Personally, I think it's more for the insurance company's benefit than mine. More the DME who won't have to send anyone to your house to get what is required for Ins. payment. If the modem (transceiver) snaps on...

Re: cpap "phones home"
I'm assuming that the cpap will be sending the information via modem or an internet connection (the IT guy in me hopes it would be a secure connection). However, and maybe I'm not looking hard enough, I'm not finding any information on cpaps that phone home. Does anyone have a machine that does thi...

Re: Campers/Backpackers/Horse packers
I have the same problem. I've been a very outdoorsy person all my life. I've been on the hose for just under a months now. I'll be dropping a grand to buy a Honda 2000 generator later this week to recharge my camper's deep cycle battery. That will allow me to camp at sites without electrical hookups...

Re: Finally noticing weight loss~ Happy Dance!
Hi Jaylee, I don't own a scale. The problem with scales is they only measure total weight, not body composition. And this can be very discouraging to someone who is trying to loose weight, especially if he or she is exercising. When you exercise, you are not only burning fat, you are adding muscle. ...

Re: My first trip to the DME
As promised, here's an update on my progress with my new CPAP. I got my equipment one week ago today. It's been an adjustment for sure. I am starting to notice significant improvement in my alertness and mood during the day, especially at work. But, I'm still waking up 3-4 times per night . I'm hopi...

Re: My first trip to the DME
I got a ResMed S8 AutoSet II. Although this is an auto-tritating machine, it has been set up to run in CPAP mode. This machine is fully data capable. It has been set up with a GSM (cell phone based) transmitter that will send compliance data back to my insurance company and and therapeutic data to t...

Re: Philips Respironics Wins Award
Bizarre. And you see where this is published: The Wall Street Journal. And I am with you. Unless there is a real need, I do not need 'big brother' (taken here to mean 'doctors or anyone else') monitoring every breath I take. Next thing you know, they will tax every breath I take. Shhhh..... Don't g...

My first trip to the DME
Four months after asking my primary care doctor about sleep apnea, and a seemingly endless wait for various appointments and sleep study results, I will be getting my CPAP and related gear Thursday (3/4/10) afternoon. I am so tired of being tired all the time. I can't wait to finally get a treated. ...

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start
Hello from yet another CPAP newbie. I'm a 49 year old man (hence the Moniker Made in 1960). I've been having problems sleeping for a long time. I can't remember the last time I slept through the night. I usually wake up 4-5 times a night. I wake up in the morning and still feel tired. About 16 month...
