Re: a personal question..
JohnBFisher Thanks so much for posting those links, I'll have a good read of them later I have no doubt that there is a correaltion between OSA and blood sugar. In my case, my nightime full bladder was placed firmly at the door of diabetes with OSA not considered at all. The night I started CPAP my ...

Re: a personal question..
Gotta keep the BP down folks. It kills silently. Agreed!! I was on BP drugs for about 3 or 4 months with absolutely no effect on my high BP and they were left scracthing their heads. After 2 weeks on CPAP my BP on average was down 15%, so almost overnigh. I'm hoping for more falls in my (high) BP a...

Re: a personal question..
Before starting to use CPAP I would have to have to go to the bathroom at about 4am every night, it was that regular and I had a VERY full bladder. The first night I used CPAP I didn't have to go during the night and haven't had to go since at night. The change was that sudden. As an interesting asi...

Re: 9 Nights, Seems to be Getting Better
CPAPCub, Actually it does make sense and I suspect it's what I'm starting to recognize. I now have a very active life. I run 5 days a week now with totals between 30 - 50 miles per week. I think I'm beginning to recognize signs of being tired from effort versus exhaustion from sleep deprivation and...

I meant to mention in my last post - my machine doesn't break down the AHI into apneas and hypopneas. The only data I get is an AHI number and an 'NRI' number which I understand is 'non responsive events' aka central apneas. Luckily, that number is usually 0 or worst 0.25.

Re: My cholestrol has gone through the roof
uncle_bob The good news is that modern medicine is very effective against high cholestrol. You'll probably be put on one of he many statins out there initially. That and making necessary lifestyle changes should do it Good that you found out in plenty of time, to give yourself good opportunity to ad...

Advice please
Hi, I've been on CPAP for about 3 weeks or so now. Luckily my mask is more or less leak free with the just the odd adjustment needed during the night. I have a very low Non Responsive Index, usually 0.25 or below. I started off on 14 pressure, lowest AHI achived was 6 but most nights were over 10. I...

Re: Aha! I was right about Hypothyroid and Sleep Apnea
I was diagnosed with severe Osa. With an index close to 50 obstructions per hour. The first night at 16 I had my AHI around 12.0 I think is because my thyroid is under care this time my body is not having apneas. Wow that's great. So what were the tests that you had? Reading the article you linked ...

Re: Mirage Quattro FFM
I used to love my Quattro, it's still my favorite mask. At a pressure of 18/22 I had to cinch that thing down pretty tight to keep leaks under control, but it could be done. Just no comfortable "cushion of air" for the mask to float on. The bridge of my nose unfortunately reached it's total breakdo...
