Re: So I saw a rheumatologist...

a specific brand of Norwegian fish oil for its omega-3 anti-inflammatory benefit Which one is it? I have been wanting to start fish oil for awhile, but don't know which one. Course with my luck it won't be available here. Also, most importantly, does it cause fish burps? I mean, that's important en...

Re: CompSA, Hypoventilation, PLMs, Bradycardia and Hypotension?

BB sits on his horse up on top of the ridge surveying the scene that has unfolded in front of him. Since the original call to arms this battle has unfolded like a stream finding its way down a valley for the first time. His advisers stand by, channeling years of experience from previous battles. Bu...

So I saw a rheumatologist...

Tomorrow I am off to see a rheumatologist. So the rheumatologist believes I have rheumatoid arthritis (affects 1 in 400 males), and it is purely coincidental that I also have OSA (he left commenting about AWI/PLMs/arousals to the sleep doctor.) When I mentioned the possibility of fluoxetine-withdra...

Re: CompSA, Hypoventilation, PLMs, Bradycardia and Hypotension?

OK, that July oximetry D/L gave you 3 days on prednisone? Affirmative. In a comparative overlay of HR...I don't see nuthin'...but your breathing really hasn't changed. So with SPO2 and HR as the clinical indicators (bottom line) focus for me is on arousals and PLMs, not desats/ventilation or autono...

Re: Hyperparathyroidism and pseudogout

Well, for now, watch what (and how much) you eat. Weight gain can sneak right up on you while you're taking steroids. Yea, 'tis panning out as you spake. In particular, uncomfortable fluid retention in the midriff has come to me, I believe due to sodium retention and potassium expulsion (oh how Goo...

Re: SPO2

Actually, I was looking at heart rate trends to see if there was some sort of overall autonomic increase, or clues that the prednisone made your sleep quality even worse, which, despite the decrease in EDS, still might be, but the gain realized by pain relief could far outweigh the loss in sleep qu...

I don't recall you mentioning that you are a centaur earlier in the thread, but then again...I suppose that is the reason you had your blood drawn at the Institute of...Veterinary...Sciences then... Hi r, Aaah, that would explain the four nurses that held me down in the stall and the 18g needle the...

Re: CompSA, Hypoventilation, PLMs, Bradycardia and Hypotension?

bb, I'm listening to your complaints and it's sounding all too familiar...I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, but I've remained euthyroid to date. I get my TSH checked every 4-6 months Hi SU, Did/do you get heightened indicators for inflammation e.g. monocytes, C-reactive proteins, etc? Was/is your rhe...

Re: CompSA, Hypoventilation, PLMs, Bradycardia and Hypotension?

Are you taking ibuprofen daily for a long period of time? If so, think about adding a PPI. Hi SU (hopefully with a healing throat), on the 5th of this month I started taking 400mg of ibuprofen with milk most nights before bed to successfully assist prednisone in suppressing the development of pain ...

RA diagnosis by rheumatologist

Tomorrow I am off to see a rheumatologist. Rheumatologist believes I have rheumatoid arthritis, and that it is purely coincidental that I also have OSA. When I mentioned the possibility of fluoxetine-withdrawal-induced RA symptoms, he commented that this was unlikely due to RA symptoms emerging pri...

SPO2

Not sure of the clinical significance of this trend. Do you have trend oximetry reports? Hi Muffy, Looking at the SPO2 reports that I have taken over the last 3 months: http://users.adam.com.au/sixsome/ASV/0410/042010/SPO2_042010.JPG http://users.adam.com.au/sixsome/ASV/0410/042110/SPO2_042110.JPG ...

Since starting on prednisone

Hi all, I think this data shows some interesting trends in my respiration data, as recorded by a VPAP Adapt SV, since I commenced consuming 25mg of prednisone (an oral steroid) every a.m. to treat relatively-newly-emergent joint pain and inflammation: http://users.adam.com.au/sixsome/ASV/0710/071710...

Re: CompSA, Hypoventilation, PLMs, Bradycardia and Hypotension?

Perhaps alpha wave intrusions (AWI) serve as preliminary or precursor symptoms in some cases---with AWI initially resulting from subliminal pain that progresses into supraliminal pain months/years later. Apart from not being able to kneel without pain for some years, I have also had acute pain in m...
