Re: Diary of a new Sleep Apnean

Interesting thread.

Sleep Apnean? Hmmm. I like the moniker "Hosehead".

Re: Reducing my pressure

This is just my opinion ... I would not lower the air pressure without first getting a 'go ahead' from a sleep doctor. The level of pressure coming from your CPAP is like a prescription, and it is not the best thing to "self medicate" if you know what I mean.

Re: Need help - 2 years with CPAP and unable to sleep

I'm also coming up on my 2 year anniversary using CPAP. I have no problems falling asleep ... because after trying a few different masks I found what worked best for me is the ComfortGel Nose Mask . No more dry mouth. My problem is I often wake up in the middle of the night because of the air pressu...

Re: High Mask Prices---Cheap Quality

A similar thing happened to me just 3 months ago. I accidentally broke the head gear part of my ComfortGel Nose Mask. I have Apria and they wanted to charge me $140 to replace the mask (as it happens the University Of Pennsylvania Sleep Center - where I had my sleep study done - charged me $20 to re...

Re: DME: I'm paying the ROBBERS!!!! Update!!!!

My horror story concerning APRIA is a simple one: About 3 months ago I accidentally broke my mask (a clear plastic ComfortGel Nose Mask). Went to the daily "Mask Clinic" at the University Of Pennsylvania Sleep Center to order a new one. The Apria representative put in an order for a new one and said...

Re: Blame The Apnoea?

I first heard of Sleep Apnea when my older brother was telling me he was diagnosed with it. He's a college professor from Florida in his 50's and he was describing the daytime sleepiness, falling asleep at the wheel of his car, frequent trips to the bathroom overnight, loud snoring, etc - all the cl...

I learned something new today!

I am glad to see that purchasing CPAP equipment at a discount is possible through the internet. Not everyone has health insurance. I have insurance and my machine was free, but it is good to know if one finds oneself without insurance.

Re: Love/hate relationship with CPAP

Gemini, I can relate to your post 100%. I started using a CPAP in May of 2008. The first few months I would often wake up in the middle of the night, have some kind of claustrophobic panic attack and tear the thing off my face. That was in the past. I switched to the ComfortGel Nasal Mask instead of...

Re: worried 142 apnea per hour

My AHI is close to 100. With CPAP it is down to almost nothing ... something like 2 or 3 which is considered normal. My sleep doctor noted that I am 100% compliant and that I am his "model patient." Sleep doc says to me "I want to take your charts and statistics, frame them, and hang them on my offi...
