Re: Who has the most number of hours on their machine?

My old Philips System One Auto CPAP is 12 years old has 25000+ hours on it and I was using it until I replaced it with a brand new Resmed Airsense 10 last fall. It was still working OK but it was getting noisier and it had always been very quiet. I also didn' tfeee it was giving me the same level of...

Re: Respironics Dreamstation - huge unit-to-unit noise variation

White noise is a great idea and would have been the solution I would have tried if the Airsense 10 wasn't so quiet or I would have had to go back to my noisy DS 1. But I'm afraid it would have anoyed my wife and/or me as we're so acustomed to almost total silence at night. But it's not needed now an...

Re: ResMed AirSense 11 - A sneak peak

A new forum member here. I am coming from a very old Philips Respironics Series 60 CPAP machine which served me well for more than 10 years, and still works. I was offered a new AirSense 11 and was able to test it on site. This thing is noisy as *ell. When I inhale and exhale, I hear strong (white-...

Re: Respironics Dreamstation - huge unit-to-unit noise variation

Oh I'm sure many companies' plans pay for them in Canada too but I've been an freelancer since 2008, a year before I was diagnosed with sleep APNEA and entrepreneur since 2014 and I have not taken private insurance for this kind of stuff. Doctor visits, eye exams as I'm going to have in November, my...

Re: Respironics Dreamstation - huge unit-to-unit noise variation

I really hope it gives you good treatment! I have not heard from Philips yet on a replacement or repair myself and the System One felt less and less effective (which is not surprising after 11+ years and 25000+ hours on the motor ;) That machine has done its job! So I took matters into my own hand b...

Re: Respironics Dreamstation - huge unit-to-unit noise variation

I posted the above back in 2019. That was before the recall (and before the pandemic). Note that my DreamStation1 was very quiet (when the humidifier was attached). My DreamStation2 arrived recently and is even quieter (it cannot be used without the humidifier attached). If exhalation relief is ena...

Re: Cpap machine

I just received an AirSense autoset that replaces my old 11 years old System One. The difference is remarkable. Understand that I just have one night of data on the Resmed and the two machines seem to compile things differently but, I can say the Resmed feels better to breathe against (I have it in ...

Re: Respironics Dreamstation - huge unit-to-unit noise variation

I know this is an old thread and may not be as relevant now with the recall, but I wanted to post here again for those who are as sensitive to noise as I am and would need to replace a Dreamstation 1. FWIW, after my last post here in 2019, I simply went back to my old System One and was planning to ...

Re: Philips Respironics Recall V2.0 Questions and Answers

Just checking in if anyone on Canada has had any movement on their DS2? I still haven't heard a thing and I registered in early June. I received my DS1 at the end of March and had it recalled in early June - I used it for 2 months. Not sure if that means I'd be at the end of getting a replacement? ...

Re: have tried so many masks

Hello Onward, I have not posted here in ages but I've been on CPAP for nearly 12 years at this point. I'M one of the lucky ones who adapted pretty easily and quickly to it. But masks are the part that is hardest to deal with. I have tried and used only 2 models of masks in all that time. The first a...

Re: Respironics Dreamstation - huge unit-to-unit noise variation

I just received a replacement Dreamstation machine from Canadian CPAP Supplies today. Awesome customer service by them! I had been sleeping with my old System One for a few days after sending them back my original Dreamstation and it was a reilef to go back to almost silent operation... I'll see ton...

Re: Respironics Dreamstation - huge unit-to-unit noise variation

I'm glad to know some Dreamstations are quieter because mine does that whirring/bearing motor noise and it's quite loud making my getting to sleep harder. I never had an issue getting to sleep with or without CPAP (been on CPAP for 10 years). I put the machine on a folded towel. Noise reduced maybe ...

Re: Mirage Activa?

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Activa LT--today perhaps???? I'm a side sleeper and everything else is leaking like crazy on me. I hope my bottom pressure of 7 is enough to make it work--my high pressure is only 12. The low pressure on my APAP is 6 (high is 18) and the LT still works very ...

Re: Mirage Activa?

Another happy Activa LT user here. I've started my therapy 2 months ago and have been 100% compliant. The LT seals great and is very comfortable to me. I route the hose through a home made "hook" (made from a coat hanger) attached to our bed's headboard and I can sleep on my back and move to sleep o...

Re: Prescribed Pressure

I was originally titrated at a pressure of 15 after a 3 nights home titration. But the mask I had then was terrible and I woke up often during the night with mask leaks and a high pressure "blasting" in my face. My doc finally prescribed an APAP (after I insisted on one) set to a very wide range of ...
