Re: Mirage Activa?
I have been using the new "improved" Activa Lt mask- size small. The improvement seems to be that Resmed changed the forehead selection dial. It is now gray instead of clear and it seems to be flatter that the older version. I won the improved mask at auction but have not been able to locate the new...

Re: Sleep Apnea and Restless Leg Syndrome
I have severe sleep apnea and RLS. I didn't want to try any of the RLS drugs so I tried Calcium plus Vitamin D at bedtime as well as 2 capsules of Doctor's Best Enhanced L-tryptophan 1 hour before bedtime. You cannot eat any protein foods for one hour before taking the DB L-tryptophan because the pr...

Re: Last nites results
It took about 10 days to get the Aussie hose for me. I hook it up to the Activa Lt mask with no problem. I route the hose up over my head using the cap portion of the PAPCAP Plus and secure it with the velcro circle sewn to the top of the cap. I use the Mirage Softgel cushion on my Activa Lt frame. ...

Re: Ear Pressure
I have ear pressure every night when starting my cpap machine. I have Meniere's disease which makes me dizzy at higher altitudes or flying in a plane. The first week with cpap caused bilateral ear pain and headaches. I have more ear pressure with nasal pillow masks. I am a mouth breater but could no...

Review of Masks Tried
I have been on the search for the "perfect mask" just like all new CPAP users. I am a mouth breather but found that I have to tape my lips with cloth tape so my jaw won't drop open even with full face masks. I have tried the following in the past six weeks: Full Face: Quattro (small and x-small)- le...

Re: Share your OSA story with nurse researchers
I am happy to participate in this study and had no problem filling in the initial questionnaire. I would love to see the study outcome report and hope that it will foster better care for OSA patients. In my case, I would have very little support if not for the members of this forum.

Re: hybrid ffm vs mirage liberty mask
I have been using the Liberty mask for over one week now with vastly improved leak rates (from 14 down to 1) and AHI (from 11 down to 2.9) compared to my initial mask (Quattro FF). I do have to tighten the bottom straps very tightly to prevent leaks from the bottom of my mouth and tape my lips. I ha...

Re: new cpap user who needs lots of help
I have been on therapy for 27 days now. My pressure is set for 7 to 19 with a ramp of 5 for 10 minutes. My 90% pressure is about 16. The first week was very bad with headaches, nasal irritation, chills and extreme dry mouth (I am a mouth breather). I started with a Quattro full face mask but kept ge...

Re: Mirage Liberty - fantastic night!
I had some problems last night with the Liberty also. I kept having small leaks around the bottom sides of the mouth mask. I tightened the lower straps very tight and pushed them higher up onto my face which semed to help some. I guess that all masks need to be readjusted frequently. I have had no p...

Re: How old were you when
I started 25 days ago after my Family doctor advised a sleep study in Jan. 2010. I had an increase in fasting blood sugar level (105), 6 month weight loss plateau (40 pounds lost and then nothing more), high blood pressure and daytime fatigue. Driving had become dangerous due to the possibility of g...

Re: hose over nose vs hose below chin.......
I have been wearing the Liberty mask for the past two nights in combination with a PAPcap Plus which has numerous velcro straps on it. The strap on the top of the head is made for your hose. Having the secured Aussie heated hose go over my head is so much more comfortable! No more holding onto the h...

Re: Mirage Liberty - fantastic night!
No need to tape the lips with the hybrid-style masks ... therapy air will do exactly what it's supposed to do (stent open your airways) if it escapes your mouth when you are wearing a FFM . Muse, I appreciate your comment! I thought that I needed to tape my mouth no matter what type of mask I used....

Re: Mirage Liberty - fantastic night!
I tried the Liberty mask last night for the first time. I was given a small Quattro 3 weeks ago when I had my sleep study because my mouth falls open when I am asleep. My chin is receded and I have had numerous leaks with the Quattro in addition to air in my eyes. I have a new PAPcap plus to hold my...

Re: Help - At wits end with CPAP
I am having mouth leaks as well. I used my new PAPcap last night and it worked perfectly to hold my receding chin in place and prevent my mouth from opening. Other chin straps pushed my chin further back but the PAPcap holds it straight up. I did have to position the chin strap forward to avoid putt...

Re: My start on CPAP.
I started cpap on 1/18/10 and am trying to get the best therapy I can. My two sleep studies showed that I had 40 to 60 events per hour with my O2 sat dropping below 60. I am the proud owner of: Contour cpap pillow, finger pulse oximeter, neti pot, BreathRight nasal strips, numerous chin straps, bed ...
