Re: Why set a max pressure with Apap?
There may be other reasons as well to limit the pressure.

Re: The results are in - Finally
HIPPA law does not apply in Canada. I'm not sure what the law here says regarding sleep reports but I've always been given mine for what they're worth which, to be honest, usually isn't much. Lots of computer generated boilerplate with a few bits of relevant data sprinkled in by the sleep tech. Seem...

Re: Why do you need a sleep doctor?
You are fortunate to have a doctor with such expertise and knowledge. I have had two specialists, both specializing in sleep medicine, and neither of them seemed to know very much. You can tell when a doctor is faking it when he won't look at SleepyHead or ResScan reports and can't answer basic ques...

Re: Why do you need a sleep doctor?
Gotta say, it's a very good question. Best answer I can think of is that you need a sleep doctor to get a sleep study and a prescription for a machine. Other than that they don't do much and don't even seem to know very much. I think the reason is because most sleep doctors don't attend sleep studie...

Re: Can Vitamin D Improve Sleep?
Most people in temperate climates are Vitamin D deficient, especially in the winter, and need supplementation. 1000 or 2000 daily will bring most people up to par. Vitamin D supports general health and helps keep all the other systems working so it probably indirectly helps with sleep. The main prob...

Re: Wow! My Obstructive Sleep Apnea Just Went Away
I suspect that you just didn't sleep well enough to exhibit symptoms during the sleep study but I have personal experience with a case just like yours. A friend of mine struggled with CPAP therapy for several years trying to get a good night's sleep. Finally, a follow up sleep study revealed no OSA....

Re: What did I do right last night?
That happened to me once as well. My AHI is usually between .5 and 3. One day it was zero. Never again since. I have no idea why that happened or how to make it happen again. Still hoping for a repeat.

Re: stomach endoscopy & sleep apnea
I don't like benzos so I passed on the sedative when I had my endoscopy last year. There was a lot of gagging and wretching but that's about it. The nurses kept asking me if I was ok because of the tears and gagging and I just nodded ok. There were laughing and joking with me. After it was over I wa...

Re: APNEAS 30 SECONDS OR LONGER
Most of my obstructive apneas are quite long, some up to 45 seconds. Fortunately, there's not many of them. Most nights I'll sleep 4 hours between events and then have a cluster of 3 or more, each lasting 30 seconds or more. At that point the pressure goes back up and that's the end of it. I think i...
