Re: Traveling with CPAP
I carry my gear & personal things in an ordinary back pack but always remove the machine and run it through the xray machine separately. Its probably been 4 or 5 flights since TSA took any interest it it at all. I pack the machine inside one of those U shaped pillows they sell for putting around you...

Re: How long should a CPAP last?
I don't know why anyone would pick a CPAP or an APAP, all other things being equal. It is really nice having a machine that only cranks up the pressure when you really need it. An APAP isn't necessarily that much more expensive if you buy online. Can anyone think of a reason to choose a CPAP over an...

Re: Fisher and Paykel Forma ... /sigh
There are two things that sometimes cause leakage with my large Forma. Most often, the gray gasket isn't seated quite right. I can't always see where its misaligned, but I often cure that leak by removing the gasket and seal, and then re-seating them. The other problem is not having the upper straps...

Re: Where's the leak? Answer found!
Ages ago, I started this thread because my therapy was going poorly and my CPAP was reporting really high leakage numbers. I could not find the leak. The mystery was solved when I used two different loaner machines for a week each. Both reported no significant leak. When I went back to my own machin...

Re: Where's the leak?
I can and did post my cpap data without the use of an external server. Its in my avitar! Interesting part is the AHI trend line. It was in the mid teens as recently as 2 months ago, and then it began a slow decent that eventually bottomed at 2.1. Last 7 day average before I switched to the loaner ma...

Re: Where's the leak?
Thanks for asking, Jules, but apparently not. After a lot of trial and error, I finally looked in the FAQ and found that I'd need a publically accessible web server. I don't happen to have one of those handy, and I'm too tired to think about coming up with one. I saw my sleep doctor, and he's loaned...

Re: Where's the leak?
Thanks for your helpful response, Dave21. Would mask leakage tend to inflate the measured AHI or lower it? I got to wondering if the problem could be that the machine is blowing a higher pressure than I think its set to, so I just pulled out the mask's spec sheet again. To get the 37 L/min the machi...

Where's the leak?
After 3 masks that leaked worse than a congressional committee, my current Fisher & Paykel Forma mask seems to be an excellent fit. I feel around the edges for leaks each night, and find none. The instructions say that that at my pressure - 9 PSI - it should bleed 29 LPM +/- 15%. That would allow a ...

Re: Short Trip -not taking CPAP
After 4 or 5 months of gradual improvement on CPAP, I was unsure how much the thing was really helping. Then I went without CPAP for several days due to an equipment problem. It was a great learning experience. I've been much more committed to CPAP since then. I'm glad I had that experience.

Re: sore nose
My Mirage Quattro mask would make the bridge of my nose bloody. I tried putting a bandaid between me and the mask. It reduced but did not eliminate the problem. Also, its a bit uncomfortable to have the ends of the bandaid right next to your tear ducts. For a while, I used the Mirage Liberty which d...

Re: Trying to adjust to the Liberty....
Thanks for your thoughts. Tried a second Liberty, same results. Whatever the deal with the hose-to-mask joint, it wasn't a good fit for me. I'm now trying a Forma. It seems to fit better, doesn't leak, and is much quieter. Big question is whether its going to chew up the bridge of my nose like Quatt...

Re: Trying to adjust to the Liberty....
I'm getting major leakage where the hose attaches to the mask. My latest leakage number is 56.7 L / minute with pressure at 8. My wife hints that the noise of this mask is as hard to live with as my snoring was. I've assumed that this particular leak was inherent in the Liberty's design. Is this lea...
