Re: Changing mask settings
The morning report: Definitely something I'll have to get used to. The nose plugs, unfortunately, will be required, at least at first. I could force myself to keep my nasal passages closed while I was awake, but as soon as I started to fall asleep, a great gushing of air would erupt from my nose. VE...

Re: Changing mask settings
It has arrived! I'll check the numbers you mentioned (not that I don't trust you, I just like to find them and confirm) and am hopeful that I can wear this one. I've tried it on, and it definitely feels weird! With it, I cannot speak, but it's for sleeping anyway, so I'm not worried about that. Just...

Re: ABOUT ERROR OF CPAP
I would call your medical provider and ask them. You may need to bring it in for servicing. Is it running at all?

Re: Changing mask settings
Does anyone know what that setting might be for the Autoset II? I've been looking all over, but can't really see anything that tells me what to change the setting to for that mask. The only thing that talks about it at all is Resmeds site which lists mask settings for the Elite II, but it doesn't in...

Changing mask settings
For those who have read the Previous Adventures of Mnementh and the xPAP Machine, feel free to skip ahead to the next paragraph. For those whom have escaped my previous posts, read on. I currently have the Mirage Quattro full face mask, and am struggling with keeping it on. Self-diagnosing it to my ...

Re: Newbie advice on how to NOT rip off the mask?
I'm going through the exact same thing. Got my machine back in March, and I wear it for almost exactly two hours. I take it off and turn the machine off with no memory of doing so. While what I've done has not worked for me, it has made it better temporarily. It may bring permanent results for you. ...

Re: Finally, some progress
No difference with the moisturizing cream, but I do appreciate the suggestion. I called my DME today, and asked if they carried the Oracle HC452 oral mask. They do, and are shipping me one Monday. They don't call me for followups, but if I call them I can at least get competent help.

Re: Guy help: What kind of panty hose to buy
Ok, this was certainly NOT in the training session my DME provided. Had to check to see if I was in the CPAP forum or the convenience store robber forum. Seriously, though, what is the purpose of the pantyhose? The only thing I can think of is possibly to avoid the mask lines on your face, but I wou...

Re: Finally, some progress
I'll try using a moisturizing cream tonight to see if it helps me not wake up. I haven't noticed my skin being excessively dry, but it can't hurt to try. Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: Finally, some progress
Ok, I actually did tie myself to the bed last night. ( Never thought I'd say that sentence!) It helped me to actually wake up when the apparently designated two hours had passed. Almost on the money, at 2:07 hours (according to the data) I awoke trying to get out of bed. (I had tied my leg to one of...

Re: Finally, some progress
Well, I seem to have adjusted to the 10 foot hose and the machine no longer being in reach without getting out of bed. By that, I mean I'm now getting out of bed and turning it off without having any memory of that, either. Sigh. Something seems to be happening after about 2 hours. The data shows th...

The one thing in this that might lend it some credence is the oximetry readings. If the oxygen saturation is not going down, that's an indication you're still breathing normally. If I'm reading it correctly, this states that the levels in the majority of these test patients did not go down, but impr...

Re: Pulling mask off while sleeping
The method I'm currently trying is to turn on the leak alarm, though I don't know if the machine you have listed has a leak alarm. I've ordered a 10 foot hose to move the CPAP out of reach so I can't turn it off without getting out of bed. Till it gets here I've moved in onto the floor in an attempt...

Re: Finally, some progress
Yes, that semi-awake/semi-asleep state is particularly bad for me. I'm unfortunately capable in that state of fairly impressive feats of dexterity, but minus any actual logic or reason. I'm perfectly normal while awake, but if I'm really tired and am forced to wake up, my brain stays fuzzy and I for...

Re: Finally, some progress
Indeed, kudos for your perseverence and ingenuity! And great story You might also try locking your CPAP in a pet-travel box (read that on Ty'smoms thread I think) and then really LOCK it with a key (or combination lock, and if you can unlock that puppy in your sleep then WOW ) I was going to sugges...
