Re: AHI less than 1?
You may also want to consider several other options. I was in a similar position a few months back, AHI around 5 but feeling lousy. Here are some things to think of: Humidity - some need more or less than others, try varying it - Leak control - should be consistent, and nearly a flat line - Evening ...

John: I love the quote by a Board certified in Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Doctor: We need ONE machine for patients with sleep disorders, with all modes built in. Not 6 different machines and over a dozen different models from just one company. The only valid objection is that the high tech machine...

Re: Three months...need experienced input
Don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but you may want to not overlook the obvious. A few months ago I was as frustrated as you are. I found two things that really helped: 1) Reviewed my medications and made adjustments to them based upon how I felt, and how they were working (with Dr. Approva...

Hmm...I uploaded to Flickr and used the IMG tag....are they not showing up? They are for me My employer's firewall... sorry. My bad. It's not your employer's firewall, it's a web filtering device (such as Websense) that does that kind of filtering. Flickr and cpaptalk.com both use port 80, and HTTP...

Re: Bacterial Filter and Adjusting my Machine
I have attached a bacterial filter between my humidifier port and my hose. Do I need to have any adjustments made to the machine as a result of this? I think I feel a slight decrease in pressure although it may just be in my head! Thanks Fred It's not in your head, read the literature with your fil...

Couple of things I can think of: 1) The standard Thyroid test is mostly useless, they need to do a "full thyroid panel", so unless you've had this done you won't know for SURE. 2) What kinds of medicines are you taking? For example, I've had to adjust my high-blood pressure medicine twice to get the...

Re: Can LOSING weight aggravate apnea?
Nice to meet you. Just wondering (didn't see it in your postings) if you take any medicine? I've had several issues with my high blood pressure medicine that have caused issues with sleeping (including dizziness, and fatigue). Also, do you have any issues with GERD/Hearburn? That could be causing so...

Re: Low AHI, Nuvigil and yet still tired HELP Plz
Thanks for the help. I am gonna give my sleep center a call and let them know it's not working well and I can't wait until the entire month is up. Have to work lol I have been in a similar situation (and still am). What has changed for me the situation was purchasing a 9" sleep wedge and using it t...

Take interstate commerce first. The act as a whole is clearly aimed at manufacturers and sellers, not consumers. Look at those subsections above. They revolve around references to delivery, payment, and commerce. The rest of the act is the same way. Historically, the FDCA was a consumer protection ...

Re: OT Biggest Loser
I was watching one of my DVR'd episodes of Biggest Loser last night and the showed a shot of one of the contestants waking up and taking of his cpap mask. Did anyone else happen to see this? I wonder how many other contestants are or have been on cpap. Respironics is a sponsor of the show, and yes ...

“If you give me six lines written by the hand of the most honest of men, I will find something in them which will hang him” - Cardinal Richelieu I can think of dozens of laws that police officers violate on a near daily basis. My favorite are the sodomy laws because most likely every prosecutor, ju...

Re: In my defense.
As far as not being illegal, I have always been told, by both my employers and my college professors (one of which is nationally respected therapist) that it is illegal, as it is practicing medicine without a liscense. However, I most definitly could be incorrect. I believe you are correct in that ...

Numbers check and analysis
I've been having issues with the quality of my sleep for a while. When I started CPAP in January, everything started getting better, my AHIs were decreasing, I was feeling better. Then March ran around, and my AHI almost doubled. While many folks would love to have a 3.16 average for the month, it w...
