chrisp, you're really Charlie Sheen, aren't you? At the very least, you're two of a kind, shameless and crazy as a bedbug. Go away. And everyone beware--there are surely [sic] others like this on this board, fishing (if not phishing) for information about each of us.

Re: OT Organized Medicine Bristles at Proposed Sleep Regulations
Gosh, there are such a lot of doc-haters around here. The other side of the coin: "I'm sorry, Mr. Jones. I know I'm the only neurosurgeon around, but I can't operate on Mrs. Jones to save her from that suddenly-ruptured brain aneurysm. The government says I have to go home and get six hours of sleep...

Re: is anesthesia during surgery dangerous for apnea patients
Brilliant advice in the above replies. Best to be prepared. I had uneventful back surgery in 2006 but stopped breathing several times in recovery. We had my old Respironics tank and Comfort Classic mask there, ready to go. Anesthesiologist and nurses slapped it on me and all was well.
Good luck!

Re: Syetem One Auto versus Resmed S8 or S9 Auto
I had the same problem with the PR1, as well as the fact that it wheezed, and got rid of it. I got the S8 Autoset II about 3 months before the S9 came out, but I love it. No puffing, quiet as can be, and seems to be very responsive and effective.

Why don't you call your doctor's office and explain. They should be willing to give you another script.

And if your mask leaks air into your eyes, get a different mask that doesn't.

Sounds like the vaunted $1000+ S9 needs some more tweaking. Back to the lab, Resmed Boys and Girls. Right now I am so happy I got the S8 (at the reduced price) and didn't wait for the new one.

Re: S9 Autoset > S8 Autoset II + $300 ?
Although I love my S8, because of Resmed's current cockamamie prices, if I had to buy another machine today it would be the Devilbiss Intellipap auto + humidifier for less than one half the price (No, I don't use EPR). And according to discussions here, the S9's humidifier may have some problems. Th...

Re: OT: Congress wipes out congressional health care insurance
In terms of understanding the bill, we ain't seen nothin' yet. After Congress passes a bill, it goes to appointed executive department officials and their "civil servants" for interpretation, explication, and enforcement. The bill itself, I've read, is a couple thousand pages long. This will give ri...

Re: NEW with PR1 System One need some help
This, plus the machine and breathing noise, is why I got rid of my System One after a month. And others with the PR1 have posted about this issue. This is likely the FOT (Forced Oscillation Technique) which Respironics uses to test for open airway, i.e., is the airway open or closed during the cessa...

Re: Newbie needs advice about noise
My solution to getting rid of Darth Vader was dumping the Remstars (I tried the M-series for 2 months and a System One for one month) and getting a resmed apap see infra. Instant near-silence. What a relief.
Of course, Resmed has doubled their prices since then . . .
