Time to get back to using CPAP
I started on CPAP about 3 years ago and was using it very faithfully until 2 years ago when I developed chronic autoimmune urticaria (hives). This condition has been so difficult to deal with that it took over my life. Meanwhile, using my cpap was just too much to handle because of the itching and s...

Re: Chronic Hives messing with my CPAP stuff
I took a look at that swift fx on-line. They have a "hers" version thats kinda cute. (I like pink.) It really does look like the one I need to try out. I've got to add that to my budget and try to get it soon. I didn't get very far with my cpap last night once again. In fact, didn't even get it comp...

Re: Can you sleep thru thunder and lightening?
My cousin was struck by lightening a few weeks ago and continues to be hospitalized so I've been kind of freaked out by all this lightening we've been having. I thought you could get electrocuted while on the phone in your home from lightening. Is that right? Could that happen with CPAP? (Seems lik...

Re: Chronic Hives messing with my CPAP stuff
Thanks for the suggestions elena88. I've found Gold Bond creams are helpful for my itching. It's probably the same principle as the alcohol. I'll check into the swift fx nasal pillow mask. I've learned a lot about dermographism these past few months. I'm sorry you have that. I experience some of tho...

Re: Can you sleep thru thunder and lightening?
Wow! We had a fierce thunderstorm here last night. It's the worst I can remember and it will continue tonight too. We lost power twice. But since I haven't been wearing my cpap anyway I didn't even think about how that would affect me. My cousin was struck by lightening a few weeks ago and continues...

Chronic Hives messing with my CPAP stuff
Hi all, It's been ages since I checked in here. I hope everyone's doing well. In February I began developing hives that eventually covered my entire body including causing my lips to swell like balloons. For about 5 weeks I underwent tests and eliminated meds and foods to determine the cause which t...

Re: Vaccine and Autism Link: Study Retracted
I'm headed to an autism conference this weekend. We'll see if there's anything new to report. Not to derail the line of discussion, but I thought Adam , http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1185836/ , was one of the best movies I saw last year. Just wondering if someone who has a child with Asperger's could...

Re: Vaccine and Autism Link: Study Retracted
Frazz, I would be interested to hear your thoughts on an article where Dr. Parks speculates about a causative link between autism and SDB: http://doctorstevenpark.com/index.php?s=autism Regards, Although nonconclusive, this article in WSJ about autism is interesting. http://online.wsj.com/article/S...

Re: Nasal Pillows, hybrids, papcap... which combo?
Thanks everyone for your input on this. I switched to smaller pillows and the soreness is gone!!! YAY!!!! So, I think I'm definitely going to stick with pillows. I talked to the DME today and they're going to send me out the Liberty mask to try. The guy agreed with me that I've got to address the mo...

Re: Vaccine and Autism Link: Study Retracted
Retracting the study still doesn't address some of the issues the study uncovered. That's why many will stand by Dr. Wakefield still. The more detailed aspects are never discussed in the press. But, our (autistic) daughter's doctor explained some very important points that still need to be researche...

Nasal Pillows, hybrids, papcap... which combo?
Hi all you awesome hose-heads! Once again, I'm in a quandary. A few weeks ago I met with the RT to check on my progress. At that time I was having trouble with the ComfortGel Nasal mask creating a sore on my nose bridge. I also reported that I was having mouth leaking problems. So, she tried me out ...

Re: Spouse's Reactions
I think my husband see's this whole thing like a science experiment. The same thing happened when I had a c-section and the dr let him watch!!! (My husband's a mortician... I guess the surgeon didn't see any reason not to let him check it out.... and I was out cold so I couldn't object!) Anyway, as ...

<snip> ... And laws to regulate business practices will always be necessary. They just shouldn't be so regulated that the government actually ends up giving other businesses an advantage. ...<snip> No worry Rooster, I'll get this one. So frazzled, who will get to decide how much regulation? Maybe t...

Re: Healthcare Reform What Would You Do
3. I'd like to see less regulation for insurance as far as what they will cover, but more regulation to create quotas of high risk patients. You said above that you're against letting insurance companies decide who gets care based on pre-existing conditions. I agree 100% with you. However, deregula...

aerophagia - could it last all day - no gas?
Three mornings ago I woke up with a terrible stomach ache. (Been on cpap for about 3 weeks). I got feeling a little better later in the day and we traveled about 2.5 hours away for a family gathering. I got so car sick it was terrible. I felt crummy the rest of the night and the drive home was awefu...
