I'm wondering, though, if the standard one really would be melted by such treatment?

I'm trying to calculate how much of my energy bill is due to my resmed. It's plugged in all the time. Is there a formula folks use?
why?
Aside from "why not", estimating needs for a back-up power source would be a good reason I suppose.
about a hundred watt hours per night.

Re: Treating flow limitation causes more central apneas?

No. that would be hypopneas The reason why I asked is because the article below mentions that "for all practical purposes" following three terms are interchangeable: UARS, Flow limitation, RERA. https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php/Flow_Limitation/UARS_and_BiPAP And when I do a search for UARS...

Hello. I found some of my CPAP supplies which I had set aside and not used the older first. Can you advise me what is a safe age to still use nasal pillows and disposable filters? Thank you.
years, decades. as long as they'll last in the landfill when thrown away.

they don't go bad with age.

Re: Treating flow limitation causes more central apneas?

You're just bound and determined to have something you don't, aren't you? I am absolutely looking to have something . And if I'm wrong then so be it I guess. I'm still tired every day and something's bound to be causing it. In total I haven't used CPAP for long, true, but my younger brother ha...

Re: Treating flow limitation causes more central apneas?

I did actually look at my graphs before posting them, and I noticed that my respiratory patterns before I fell asleep were perfectly normal. But after I fell asleep they began to resemble the abnormal graphs I saw on those diagrams. not any that you posted, you're imagining things. Or maybe you wan...

Re: Hypopneas

It appears the DS is interpretating my shallow breathing as hypopneas. See, your understanding of what's happening has gone off the rails there. The machine *does not care* whether you're "very aerobically fit" or not. It does not flag a hypopnea because your tidal volume is less than some predeter...

Re: Treating flow limitation causes more central apneas?

Your flow limitations are negligible I can trust that you are correct on this, but for my information may I ask how you determined that my flow limitations are negligible? Have you actually *looked* at the charts you're posting? I see that there is a flow limitation graph in OSCAR, but I have no id...

Re: Treating flow limitation causes more central apneas?

because they're not happening very often, it's not disturbing your sleep. Yea it's not very often, but I did notice that on Aug31st (when my pressure was significantly higher at 10.2), I had a lot of central apnea events. I felt so awful on that day I'm almost afraid to try that pressure again, alt...

Because the algorithm was tested before the machine was given FDA approval.

It may tag central apneas as obstructives,
Only if the throat closes during the central, which can happen.

Re: Treating flow limitation causes more central apneas?

SEEMS , but your body simply did not want to breathe, did not *need* to breathe, because your CO₂ levels were low, when they built up, you started breathing again. I know the machine uses some algorithm involving pulses of air to determine whether the event is a CA or an OA, but I'm wondering if th...

Hmm I guess I have a hard time being reassured because 50 seconds seems like a lot. Have other people gotten CA events close to that?

Re: Treating flow limitation causes more central apneas?

Increase you min pressure, and if the insignificant centrals are bothering you, then reduce EPR. 'course, reducing EPR has the effect of raising your minimum pressure. Hmm, could you elaborate on why you believe my central events are insignificant? To me it seems like 50 seconds is a long time, and...

Could you please share the highest total hours of use you've recorded on a single CPAP machine before it ceased functioning, along with the specific model of the machine? Thanks in advance (TIA).
Why? What possible legitimate purpose could that serve?
