Are you pre-heating your humidifier? I found that if I turned my heater on more than a couple of minutes before the cpap, then the heat would turn off after an hour or so.

Now I just turn the heat one right before I turn the cpap and it stays on all night.

MY O2 sat was 68% during the sleep study. I have no idea what it is now. Will be trying to purchase an oximeter to use with my cpap.

Changing the settings on a REMstar auto cpap with cflex

Hi Everyone, I am getting a new cpap and need to know how to change the settings. My doc ordered the settings at 4-20. I am on 12 cm now and adjusted the vamp to start at 7 cm with my nasal interface. However, I recently got a new nasal pillow interface and had to turn the vamp down to start at 5. I...

Well I did not preheat my water last night. I turned my cpap on at the same time as the H&H and they were both still on this morning. So I think it's safe to say that it (the H&H) shuts off if you don't turn on the cpap right away.

I will retest tonight to double check and make sure.

Born and raised in Modesto, California, in the heart of the great central valley. Raised on the farm, right in the big middle of an almond orchard and surrounded by boysenberries, grapes, and peaches. My first job was picking berries at age 7 and it was right then and there I decided to get a colleg...

Thanks so much for the feedback on this topic. Moogy - I do preheat longer than 5 minutes and perhaps that is the key. Tonight I will preheat for less than 5 minutes and see if the H&H stays on all night. Rest - I am not having any power failures because everything else is still working fine (no clo...

Thanks Amigo for your common sense approach to self care. I find your comments helpful.

It's hard to not respond when someone baits you, more difficult when this or these hide behind the "shield " of guest status.

Excellent post! Most enlightening. You have done us readers a great service by sharing this information. After all this investigative study and analysis, I would thing the manufacturers would welcome a collaborative effort to gain insight into their own product's user-friendliness. I love the idea o...

Thanks for replying. the first thing I do is press the heat button to get the water to warm before I turn the cpap on. I do get a light on the H&H when I do this. Next, I press the cpap on/off button to let it start, then I press the vamp button; the H&H light stays on when I do this, but then after...

Heated humidifier shutting off

Hello There, I have noticed that my heated humidifier automatically shuts off after a while and when I wake up the water in the reservoir is cold. Does anybody else have this happening to them? Am I not doing something right? I would like the water to stay warm. I usually turn the heater on first fo...

Thanks, this newbie appreciates the information provided. I, for one, may not know enough to be able to decipher the credible from the incredible. However, may I please point out one thing? If you are on oxygen, please do not use petroleum jelly to lubricate your nares, it would be wiser to use a wa...

I would think that the forehead is a good place to check the O2 saturation, especially since you have noticed the consistency in your numbers. Sometimes the fingertips are not accurate simply because they are cold, or if fingernail polish is used. Good luck - I think checking your O2 saturation is a...

There have been a few studies done to compare the efficacy of pulse oximeters. You can do a search on the internet to read the studies. Here is the conclusion of one done on volunteers who were deliberately desaturated to test the devices. (!) "CONCLUSION: Most models of oximeters tested performed w...
