Re: Question for those who crocheted or knitted their hose cover

It won't be too hard to get on if you slip a plastic bag over the end of the hose -- it'll slip right through!

Re: Mask setting for Sleep Weaver

Sleep Weaver lit says 25, Activa says 31. Does that seem close enough? I haven't had much luck finding listings of leak rate data for other masks... maybe restedgal has a link?

Re: Mask setting for Sleep Weaver

3 nights so far. I still have the machine set for the Activa mask, but wonder if there's a better choice. As I understand it, masks vary as to how much air escapes through the exhalation vent, so the expected pressure at the end of each breath would vary also. If the SleepWeaver allows significantly...

Mask setting for Sleep Weaver

I've just switched from an Activa to a SleepWeaver mask. Any insight on what mask I should select in the settings on my S8 Autoset II,since obviously SleepWeaver is not an option?
Thanks.

Re: Res Med System Err 1018 -- HELP!

Thanks for the advice. No luck drying it out with a hairdryer, but still a happy ending. Took it into my DME today, where I was immediately given a brand new unit (the original probably only had about 300 hours on it). Since I'm still renting, it seemed to be no big deal. Scanned the barcode of the ...

Res Med System Err 1018 -- HELP!

I've been a happy S8 Autoset II user for about 6 weeks now. This morning, I unthinkingly reached over and pressed the power button before taking my mask off, forgetting that I had recently turned on the Smart Start feature. I now have a display which reads: SYSTEM ERR 1018, Call Service. I have sear...

What if it breaks?

My insurance is similar to many others, I think, in that they rent-to-own the CPAP machine. After 9 months (or something), it's paid for and it's mine. What if it stops working after that? Can anyone share experiences they've had with having machines repaired? I'm sure that different insurers and DM...

Re: What mask for side sleeper

Of course, everyone is different, but I'll share my "extensive" experience from the three whole nights I've been a CPAP user. I use the Activa LT nasal mask and really like it because it has a very soft, comfy configuration, with a sort of double cushion on the part that comes in contact with your f...

Re: starting this thing soon and very upset

Welcome. I hope you can heed the advice of those who have posted before me. Dry your tears and prepare to find out what it's like to actually sleep all night the way that you're supposed to. I just had my very first night on CPAP last night. It took me hours to fall asleep, but I kept the mask on al...

A Tale of Two DMEs

It was the best of service. It was the worst of service. My husband started on CPAP several months ago. We knew next to nothing about the whole affair, so we naively accepted a ResMed Escape from the first DME we went to. When we went to get it, the RT showed my husband one nasal pillow mask, and th...

Re: Still waiting for a machine!

Auto adjusting is important to me, but I need some help knowing exactly how to justify it. In my head, I think it's better because I can't imagine that my needs stay constant all night long. But I'm not sure I have any real data to back that up. I don't want to sound like I just want it because it's...

Still waiting for a machine!

I've been lurking here for a few weeks now, and have actually interacted with a few forum members in live chat. I keep thinking that I'll be an 'official hosehead' any time now, but one thing after another seems to stand in the way of me starting therapy. I've thought I was on the brink of getting e...
