Re: New User / Tooth Pain

I agree that any pain should be evaluated by your physician and or dentist. One possibility is that the weight/ pressure of the mask is aggravating the problem. This seems more common with the gel type masks which are worn tight. Before switching to a full face mask, which can have their own issues,...

Re: Nasal to FF, #'s have gone WILD!

Request an evaluation by an ENT. Sometimes turbinate reduction with radiofrequency can improve airflow through your nose. This would allow for lower pressures and possibly less congestion. It is an office based procedure. Increasing the pressure of the CPAP may lead to worsening congestion. Make sur...

Re: Nasal to FF, #'s have gone WILD!

Do your nostrils collapse when you take a deep breathe? Maybe the full face is not for you. If your nostrils collapse but you also have problems with your mouth dropping open, then the ResMed Liberty might work? Another issue is whether your humidification needs might be different with the full face...

Re: Nose bridge raw

Thanks, yes, I tried that. I wound up with a welt that broke out and kept me out of a full face mask for a couple of weeks. Once I become less gun-shy, I may try it again, but right now I'm too nervous I'll be out of commission again. This is a very common problem, especially with the full face mas...

Re: Buying a second hand cpap

Hello I'm think to buy a second hand cpap. The one I'm using Resmed S8 Elite II belongs to the health service (Quebec) and I'm not authorizer to bring it out of my home. So if I want to travel I need to rent one $$$$. I have heard the CPAPs can become contaminated. I know there are CPAPs out there ...

Re: Nose bridge raw

This is a very common problem, especially with the full face masks like the Quattro. Try the "sleep comfort care pad" which was made specifically for this problem. You can buy it on line, here is one of several links available: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/sequal-technologies-sleep-comfort-care-...

Re: My visit to new sleep doctor

Central sleep apnea is more likely to occur in conjunction with congestive heart failure or central nervous system pathology. There is a somewhat controverisal concept of "complex sleep apnea". This is described as the emergence of central apneas as the positve airway pressure is increased to treat ...

Re: My Husband and Sleep Apnea....I need you help

He has to take owership of his disorder, so back off a little for now. He must be frustrated. CPAP is not for everybody. He had a bad experience with CPAP mask so it is time for a surgical consultation. Not surgery, but a consultation to review his options. Sometimes after talking to a surgeon, peop...

Re: Stressed out over copay

Ask your sleep doctor if they have a machine they can lend you. They may have an older unit/ professional sample they can lend out until things settle down for you. Can't hurt to ask, we lend them out sometimes where I work.

Re: Help..Need advice

You have 2 top of the line machines, but I am curious why buy 2 different models. Doesn't make more sense to use the same model machine in both locations? This way when you down load data you are comparing the same algorithms. Also if something breaks like a humidifer you can swap out the part while...

Re: Protection of Bridge of Nose - New Product

In the past whenever I saw bruises over the bridge of the nose I would just switch folks to a nasal pillow type mask. The problem is that won't work if they need a full face mask or don't like the pillows. I saw something the other day that looks like a cloth material but I have not had any patient ...

Re: Protection of Bridge of Nose - New Product

Thank you for the welcome. I thought both sides were the same when I first tried it. The manufacture, however, told me one side was a little stickier than the other, but it may be a subtle difference. They clearly want the non-logo side on the skin. Perhaps it would work fine or even better to alter...

Re: Protection of Bridge of Nose - New Product

This is my first post. I am glad this forum is available. I use CPAP and am also an experienced sleep medicine physician. I have zero financial ties to this product. The product works well in my experience. I used some samples before it was on sale. I have several patients that like it. I agree that...
