Yea, I think the VA set me up pretty good. I work in a hospital and have the luxury of being able to talk extensively with the head of our respiratory therapy department. He thinks that I got some really good equipment. In fact we are setting up a new sleep lab in the hospital and he is planning on ...

My VA Medical Care note: krousseau

While I am sure that I have probably suffered from OSA for most of my adult life, I don't recall ever saying anything to a Navy Doc about sleep problems. My biggest problems with apnea are when I sleep on my back, and anyone who has slept in a Navy Rack (bed) knows that they are not conducive to sle...

Don't know yet what that must feel like, but I'm sure I will get there. I'm already feeling much better durring the day. Haven't had to take a nap since I started the CPAP. That alone is a big improvement for me.

I work in a Hospital and the director of our Respiratory Therapy department has been a great help to me. He has informed me that, for someone that went for a long time with undiagnosed OSA, at the 1-2 month point you may start to feel like you did pre-CPAP. He says that this is due to your body real...

Craig, I ain't been around long enough to have read any of your posts, so I don't know anything about this controversy, but I will say that I think the map is a great thing. I'm glad you waited for someone to take it over instead of just dumping it. From the previous posts on this thread is sounds l...

I should add that taping my mouth shut, as works for some on this forum, is not an option for me. First, I wear a full beard and second, I am sure that this would be much worse for my claustrophobia.

Ellen, I too am claustrophobic and know how you feel. I was in the hospital for a couple of days on an oxygen mask and it was not pleasant. I have to use a full face mask withe my CPAP as I am a natural mouth breather and have a lot of problems with nasal congestion. They tried in the sleep lab to g...

I to am a newbie at this, just 3 nights under my mask. When they put me on CPAP in the sleep lab they had a hard time titrating me as I could hardly get to sleep. I was not looking forward to trying to sleep with that every night. The CPAP I have does have the C-flex and when I tried to sleep with i...

I am definitely optimistic about my treatment. And I agree, I wish I had the heated humidifier. Unfortunately I get my equipment from the VA and I will have to complain that the cool air is a problem and hope that they will decide to provide it for me. Either that or I will have to dish out the mone...

My very first post. I found this sight just this morning. I had my sleep study on Monday the 27th and they sent me home with my "equipment" on the 28th. I am 42 years young and have probably had OSA most of my adult life. I spent 7 years in the Navy as an Electronics Technician in the Nuclear Power ...
