Re: How to "Spring Forward" with ResMed S8 Elite II?
Just wanted to add my thanks to the participants for the info. For some reason my Resmed 8 time was off by 45 minutes. Maybe the recent snow storm eletrical outages had something to do with it. Anyhow, I tried to change the time but each effort was met with option of either erase all data or return ...

Re: Provent Nasal Apnea treatment
Oct. 27 At 1 a.m. on Oct. 27 I tried again but this time armed with pulse oximeter and webcam for data collection and wearing Mandibular Advancement Device and chin strap – MAD to push jaw forward and chin strap to keep jaws sealed together. From webcam 1 a.m. I reused the strips from the previous n...

Re: Provent Nasal Apnea treatment
Rooster, thanks for the point about mouth breathing. With the chin strap, I've been able to control the mouth breathing enough to get APAP to work much better for me than it originally did. Ventus, the provider of Provent, encourages mouth breathing before going to sleep but after one is trying to g...

Re: Provent Nasal Apnea treatment
Thanks to Rooster and XJ for the feedback. I understand that the mechanism of Provent is to splint the airway on exhale via the obstruction provided by the nasal strip. However, when I first use it, as I gather the experience is for other people too, the barrier to nasal exhalation is enough that my...

Re: Provent Nasal Apnea treatment
I wanted to ask about Provent. I see that on cpaptalk.com two threads, at least, have been started on the topic, the one here and a more recent one. But this one is longer and more varied so I decided to give a whirl here. I've not posted in some months, but I continue to struggle with my APAP. When...

Re: 10 sec apneas on ResScan?
I sympathize with you. I also have been having some difficulties in the heat, feel that my last sleep study at my doctor's clinic was not reflecting my typical sleep, and have been waking several times during the night and feeling tired throughout the next day. I was not aware that progesterone migh...

Re: 10 sec apneas on ResScan?
According to the ResMed expert, I would interpret your apneas not associated with a pressure increase as central apneas. Is that what you are thinking? They should reduce your SpO2 too, although being short in duration the SpO2 impact might be slight. Did those short apneas plus perhaps longer hypon...

Re: 10 sec apneas on ResScan?
I know I was partly responsible for this thread diverging from 10-sec apneas to oral appliances. The update I wanted to add today was about 10-sec apneas. I could also make a story about oral appliances, as since my last post here I have obtained and am using intermittently an oral appliance. Howeve...

Re: Poll: GERD and Sleep Apnea
I was intrigued by the subject heading of GERD and Sleep Apnea though the conversation in this thread lately has been on folates. Anyhow, a quick review of web sites with information on the GERD subject suggests that the relationship can go both ways: GERD to OSA or OSA to GERD. Here's one site http...

Re: CPAP software community proposal
Hi Akhtar, I'm getting some tests on myself at Hopkins hospital at the moment and in wait-mode on the hospital patient computer and thus need to be brief. However, I was keen to ask about your respironics database situation. I have only direct experience with a ResMed machine which uses 'rlk' files ...

Re: CPAP software community proposal
Dear OCSleeper, That's a fascinating idea about putting something in the hose to monitor the pressures so that open-source software and standards could work from there. I have not been active in hardware development and at this late stage in life don't want to start but I will enjoy thinking of that...

Re: CPAP software community proposal
Den, The goal is to help patients, such as me, understand their sleep apnea data and adjust their behavior so as to maximize their therapeutic result. The examples are endless but to name a few: I adjust the pressures on my APAP but am unclear on whether the results at one setting are better or wors...

Re: CPAP software community proposal
Bearded_two, Thank you for the 3 links. I followed them and read the articles. In all 3 cases, is the infraction that someone was gaining access to copyrighted information and making that information copyable? Might someone argue that the copyright on my '.rlk' files belongs to me rather than to the...

REVISED CPAP Patient Standards Community Proposal
In this node, I have taken the proposal in the node titled "CPAP Patient Standards Community Proposal" and modified the 'Problem' Statement to respond to Blackspinner's observations about the difficulties of decoding manufacturer data in intermediate files. I will work on providing some scenarios to...
