Re: Pain on the Bridge of my Nose
I'm most appreciative of this post. I put a tiny dab of antibiotic on the red sore on my bridge and tape across it. Worked well, but slight leaks around tape. But my nose was much better this am. I edited wiki to add the drugstores/grocery stores most likely are selling this in purple tape dispenser...

Surgery/Anesthesiologist comments/death of nurse
I wanted to make a few comments and share some things I learned today. First I'm on day 7 of therapy I think. I've had some 13-14 AHI numbers, and decided to bump up my min and max pressure. (from 10 - 13 to 10.6 - 13.4). I'm guessing that is why I had AHI's 0f .3 on day 5 and day 6. [sure, everyone...

Re: Please help me...I am drowning.
Hey Jabee, I had the same problem, and I'm only on night 7 of therapy. Gurguling hose wakes you up or roll over and water hits your face. I hadn't had time to get a hose cover yet so I rigged one up. I took a fleece pull over jacket, and ran the hose through both arms and wrapped the excess body par...

Re: 1st night on CPAP - disappointing
2nd night was much better. I'd forgot to mention I did the neti pot 90 mins before bed on night 1, but didnt help. Last night I took 1 benedryl to help with allergies and minor help to sleep, and I used afrin an hour before bed. I know many folks are anti-afrin, but for occasional use (I never use m...

Re: 1st night on CPAP - disappointing
Thanks for the many replies. I think I will try lowering the pressure to 9 (lowest pressure where I didn't snore in sleep study) and try it out on cpap mode and reduce the humidification a bit. Thank goodness for this forum and the wealth of info and folks. Doing this alone with no experience would ...

1st night on CPAP - disappointing
Only 3 trips to pick up a CPAP machine and I finally got the S8 Autoset II w/ H4i humidifer I wanted. I was given the Mirage Softgel mask. Pressure set 9 - 15, no ramp, EPR on 3. I was slightly congested, but the congestion felt worse wearing the mask. My biggest problem was exhaling through my nose...

Re: How does a Dr. track therapy with no patient data?
How has it come about that you are getting the S8 Autoset Vantage or S8 AutoSet II? At your insistence or on order of your sleep doctor? Is this the same sleep doctor that let you be provided w/the Escape? Is the AutoSet to be your new permanent xPAP or is this just a loaner? Oh they tried to tell ...

Re: How does a Dr. track therapy with no patient data?
back to the car analogy I guess it's like asking your mechanic (DR) to troubleshoot any problems without ever seeing the car (data) but strictly by how you say it drives (how you feel). I think I'll bring my own data to my follow up session and see if he even cares to talk about it. Also, i think I'...

How does a Dr. track therapy with no patient data?
Background: I'm a 1.5 weeks away from getting my S8 Autoset from my DME. I had my sleep study, halfway through the night they put the mask on me and collected whatever data. I'm to make a follow up appointment 90 days after picking up my machine. The original machine was an escape that can't track a...

Re: The effect of CNS depressants, illustrated
I'll have to look into the battery idea. I've ordered an autoset II and I assume I can use a battery with it on weekend campouts. When we go backpacking.....I think my choice is don't go or no machine. Doubt I could get one of the boys to carry my marine deep cycle battery

Re: The effect of CNS depressants, illustrated
Wow! I'm too new to this to completely grasp everything posted, but I get the pressure increase. I've had some concerns that I occasionally camp with family and often camp with a boy scout troop. I'm hoping I can sleep on my side or stomach and limit the apneas as where boy scouts camp there isn't a...

Re: DME was PISSED.
My first post. I'm waiting for my DME to get my S8 Autoset in as I had to argue that the S8 Escape wasn't coming home with me, then had to get my sleep doc to write me a new script that was more specific. Thanks to having lurked on the forums for a couple weeks I felt prepared to have an educated di...
