Re: What to do for a dry throat ?
I bought some Oasis mouth spray and I also replaced the chin strap and I had a perfect night's sleep, as far as dry throat is concerned. As far as the full face mask, I have tried that twice and I thought they were awful.

Re: What to do for a dry throat ?
I still suffer from dry mouth even though I use a tight chin strap. I tried a full face mask twice and I really didn't like that at all, so I am sticking with the nose pillows which is not objectionable at all to me. I set the machine anywhere from 0 to 4 and I still wake up with dry mouth 3 or 4 ti...

Re: Humidifier - is mine working?
I like the pillows mask pretty much. I got used to it a lot better than the face mask. I am sure this is all helping me, but I still lose sleep with the dry throat waking me up.
I will try what you suggest. Thanks

Humidifier - is mine working?
I have the System One Heated Humidifier. I am not certain it is working. The water level goes down, but that could be attributed to the heat element. I am using this and I still get dry throat. (which could from other reasons, of course) The settings from 1 to 5 are for the humidfier and I generally...

I saw the respitary care practitioner today and she swapped the old one for a new Opus Vigor 8 which I believe will work just fine.

Swift pillows mask not so swift
The foam strap snapped in two last night at 4:AM. This mask worked as long as it remained in place, but the strap around the ears drove me nuts and then the final insult when I woke up and attempted to adjust it and the strap broke apart. I am going to look at the Nasal Aire product. I got used to t...

Re: Sinus issues
I took particular care with the fitting of the mask & hose and I had a very good night. waking only once. I had the humidifier set at 2 and moved it to 3 later in the night. I didn't have any sinus issues. I am beginning to think it is mostly allergies here in the Willamette Valley.

Re: Sinus issues
I learned today that I have a follow up on Tuesday with the sleep apnea doctor so I will raise my concerns to him.
Nothing had changed in my mask preparations but there is one thing that might be relevant - where I live has just about the worst pollen/alergies than anywhere in the US.
Thanks, John

Re: Newbie, thinking of giving up - I feel your pain
I feel the same way sometimes, especially when I don't seem to be getting the benefits of cpap during the day. It is true that I don't have the means to read the data myself, but I am sure the machine is working. I have a follow up appointment with the Sleep Center at the Corvallis Clinic on Tuesday...

Re: Sinus issues
I have never tried to download the data but the provider advisor I work with has done this so I can call her and set up an appointment to do it. I don't evn know if I would be able to understand the data without help, anyway. As for nasal sprays, I was advised by a pulmonary specialist to be cautiou...

Sinus issues
I have been using the Swift LT pillows system for a couple weeks now and generally, it has worked better than the other masks. My challenge is to get consistant on fitting it the right way and the same way each night. My question now is whether this mask can trigger sinus congestion. I had sinus sur...

Re: My third mask in a month
Thanks Gary,
The Swift enabled me some peace last night. I really felt good. The Samaritan health provider people are very helpful and they truly encourage me. I think the REMstar control box with it's data processer is amazing.

Re: My third mask in a month
I used the new Swift LT pillow unit last night and I got a very good night out of it. 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep with no ill effects. I am pretty happy about that. There is some leakage where the hose connects to the mask but I suppose that's pretty normal.

Re: My third mask in a month
The mask I had on last night was over the nose and mouth. I don't have it anymore so I don't know the model number. The fact that it had air blowing on my face was kind of unnerving. Everyone has a different story on what works for them. I know people who never were able to accept wearing a mask. I ...
