Re: Catching up on sleep deficit

I've often wondered that myself, and I don't think there is any cast in stone answer. It's different for everyone. As for me, I'm coming up on 3 years since I was diagnosed. Looking back it certainly explains a lot of things in my life over the previous 20+ years. When I had my titration study, I we...

Need some advice

I've enjoyed my time and all the great advice that I've found on this site, but I've got one that has me at a loss. I believe my son also has OSA and I'm trying to get him some help. Here are the specifics. He is 22 years old. Was discharged from the Army on a medical discharge a little less than 2 ...

GoLife Nasal Pillows: First impression

It arrived today from CPAP.com, and thought I would share my first impressions. I've been using the Opus 360 for most of the last year and found that for the most part it seems to work pretty well for me. I have been having some problems with leaks so thought I'd try something else. It seems to be v...

Re: OT Atlanta Meetup 1/22 10:30 AM

One of these days, that meeting will be scheduled so I can make it. I live in the southern part of GA, but my kids live in the ATL area so I get there every now and then. Unfortunately, the meeting always seems to get scheduled when I'm out of town or on my way out. This time I leave EARLY am to go ...

Re: CPAP at higher altitudes

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm going to try setting Auto at a ranger of 10-12. and see how that does. I'll post my results just for grins.

Re: CPAP at higher altitudes

I've had some time today to do a little more research as to the altitude. I'm going to be in Aspen and I've found information that shows the altitude at the airport from 7620- 8440 feet. I know that the place that I will be spending nights is a bit higher than this, but I don't know exactly where th...

CPAP at higher altitudes

I'm going to be in Aspen, Colorado for a week at the end of this month and I'm wondering if there is anything that I should be aware of when I go there. Any extra items that I should make sure to take with me, different performance of the machine, things of that nature. I'm aware that my machine doe...

You might also talk to your Dr. about the possibility of getting a portable nebulizer. I have a friend with a small child that had an overseas trip several years ago, that needed nebulizer treatment for asthma. They're very small and will run for quite some time on batteries.

Re: Men of a Certain Age

Looking better? Getting respect? Maybe I should think about becoming an actor. Nah, obviously all you need is a Mirage Quattro. Mirage ... The mask of the stars. Now I will be on the edge of my seat waiting to see what kind of machine Braugher's character has. I'm betting on an S9. ResMed ought to ...

Re: TSA experience December 2010

I've been on CPAP for just over a year now, and I travel extensively for my work. I first noticed the non-swabbing of CPAPs in September, when I went through Newark, NJ. That seemed to be an isolated incident, but in the last 4 or 5 weeks, I've noticed that more often than not, they don't swab every...

Re: Newbie: chest pain

Your post caught my attention. I've been on CPAP just a little over a year now, and at the end of my first week, I had a similar issue. To compound things, I was 800 miles from home while traveling for business. My pain was just below my sternum and started at about 3 am. I did some massive doses of...

Re: Lower AHI when at hotel

Your post caught my attention as well. I travel extensively for my work. Starting next week, I'll be on the road 6 days a week until sometime in January. The rest of the year is kind of hit or miss ( such is the life of a freelancer), but in May and June I was out of town for about half of that time...

Re: Machine ain't cutting it

Thanks All; My study was done with the FX nasal cushions and they determined that 7 was enough. I have a BIG problem with breathing through my mouth and even a chin strap won't keep it shut. I thought a little pressure relief with the nasal cushions might help with this. I am going to try the Quatt...

Re: Removing Smell from Humidifier Chamber?

I know exactly what you're talking about. I usually check the water level before I hang it up each night, but one time I forgot. I woke up the next morning to what I described as a barnyard smell. I guess that comes from having grown up in rural midwest. But I digress.... I found that just washing t...

Re: IS THIS NORMAL???

What you're describing is pretty much the same thing that I experienced. I started CPAP at the end of November, and for the first week or two, I would wake up, wide awake and be up and ready to go. I think the explanation that your brother gave was perfectly reasonable. Good luck and enjoy being bac...
