Re: Mostly Hypopneas-Do I even Need to treat this???
My machine is an APAP/CPAP combo. I tried using the APAP but had to switch to CPAP because there's no exhalation relief with the APAP and I was constantly burping all night and again during the day. It was uncomfortable. The CPAP part of the machine does offer exhalation relief and that feels MUCH b...

Re: Mostly Hypopneas-Do I even Need to treat this???
Thank you Kiralynx. I'm happy to report that the ONLY thing that seems to have gone smoothly for me is my leaks. Every morning it says 0.0. In the respect, I'm very lucky. Can you please tell me if you ever feel "great"? That's my problem, I've been through a lot with this whole thing already and ju...

Re: Mostly Hypopneas-Do I even Need to treat this???
What's discouraging is that other than 2-3 days since I began Using the CPAP machine, I really don't notice any difference in how I feel. I thought I was going to feel better. It seems like I'm going through a lot of trouble for not any benefit. I had my original sleep study 1 1/2 years ago (and 40 ...

Mostly Hypopneas-Do I even Need to treat this???
I've been using my CPAP for 5-6 months now. I check the numbers every morning and no matter what the AHI is, it's alway 90-95% hypopneas. My pressure is at 8.2 and my AHI fluctuates from 6.0-12.8 on a day to day basis. I'm just wondering if I even need to treat this? It's a low pressure (I'm told) a...

Re: Goal of APAP vs. CPAP
Thank you very much, Den. I'm going to put it on CPAP mode and go to a pressure of 9 with EPR set to 3, which is where it was before. I believe the higher the EPR, the easier it is to exhale. Obviously, I could be wrong on that too! Either way, that's what I'm going to do for tonight and see what ha...

Re: Skin irritations
I went to the drugstore and bought hypoallergenic barrier tape...$1.29 per roll. I do have to cut it into many pieces though to cover everyplace the mask touches my face. It does work. I'm going to look into the RemZZZ. At 57 I looked like a 15 year old because I wear the full face mask and had acne...

Re: Goal of APAP vs. CPAP
I don't have high blood pressure. I didn't have coughing with the CPAP and noticed it with the higher pressure. The reason I'm using the APA is because I've gained 40 pounds since my titration and I don't want to have to go in for a new overnight study and thought I could figure out the best pressur...

Re: Goal of APAP vs. CPAP
Den, Also, the APAP doesn't have EPR and I have found it difficult to breathe out against the higher pressures.

Re: Goal of APAP vs. CPAP
Originally the settings for the APAP were 4-20. I changed it today to 6-12 because I read somewhere on this site that there should be a pressure difference of 6 and I know over 15 didn't feel good at all. This new APAP machine (only 3 days) is waking me more than letting me sleep (noisy, excess pres...

Re: Goal of APAP vs. CPAP
Den, Thank you so much. I've had a hard time understanding why my AHI with the CPAP is suddenly more than double. Obviously I thought and hoped it would be much lower. With the APAP I'm waking up coughing from what seems like a sudden burst of air being pushed down my throat. My CPAP pressure was 8....

Goal of APAP vs. CPAP
With an APAP machine, is the goal to have no AHI's? I've been having more, not less since I switched from CPAP. It was my understanding that the APAP machine would automatically give me the correct amount of pressure at all times and I'd therefore have little to no events. Am I wrong?

Burping & EPR?
I never had a problem with the constant burping all night (and again all day!) until I changed to the APAP machine that doesn't have EPR with APAP but does have it with the CPAP part. Before this I used ResMed S8 Elite II which had the EPR and I never had a problem with this. I'm wondering if I'm ge...

Relatively new with problems & questions
Hi, I'm new to this forum and diagnosed 1 year ago. I've been struggling every since. I'll try to make my story as short as possible. June, 2008 PCP sent for first sleep test at 162 pounds. Six months later he told me I have sleep apnea and sent for titration study. I only slept 1 1/2 hours that nig...
