Re: Cardiopulmonary Risks & Sleep Apnea & CPAP

Thanks, Mary. I've done some searching, but have found that most of the studies were regarding untreated OSA. But I haven't checked PubMed yet (don't know why). I'll see what I can find there.

Cardiopulmonary Risks & Sleep Apnea & CPAP

I've been trying to get the answer to this and haven't had any luck. Perhaps someone here can tell me: Is there any data stating whether or not using CPAP 100% of the time reduces/negates the increased cardiopulmonary caused by sleep apnea? On paper, it would seem that CPAP (with 100% compliance) sh...

Re: CPAP and Airport Clearance

I've never had problems traveling with my CPAP. I do ask the TSA agent to put on new gloves before inspecting my equipment, but they're usually very understanding. I have a Medical Equipment tag I printed from somewhere online, I'd attach it to this post, but I'm not sure how... It emphasizes that C...

Re: Humidifier "cap" (PR System One)

Thanks for the ideas. I'm currently using a little piece of cling wrap that I wrap around the port. It works pretty well, I replace it every week or so, but it isn't ideal. I tried using a small prescription bottle and the cap from a plastic soda bottle. The thing is my cat is really in love with th...

Re: Raw nasal passages

Some ideas: There could be a problem with your humidifier. A properly working humidifier should resolve any problems with dry nasal passages. You might check with your supplier to make sure that everything is working properly. Make sure you're using distilled water. When I run out of distilled, I've...

Humidifier "cap" (PR System One)

I just recently got my new machine (FINALLY!) and have the PR REMStar Pro C-Flex + with the System One Heated Humidifier. I love everything about it, but I noticed in the cpap.com picture (pic 3 of 7) there is a red "cap" that fits on to the Air Outlet Port. My humidifier didn't come with this, and ...

Re: VERY OT: iso SAD therapy light box

SAD & Sleep Apnea can both be helped by light boxes, especially if you have any kind of Excessive Daytime Sleepiness or hypersomnia. I was going to suggest the Verilux model at Costco, which last week was selling for $40. I don't have it, but am planning on buying it next time I'm there (hopefully t...

Great TSA experience w/CPAP

Just got back from my first air travel with CPAP. Went through security in Seattle, Kansas City, and Washington National airports and had no trouble at all. I used the free CPAP medical ID tag (from: http://www.mindspring.com/~jimw203@mindspring.com/to%20post/PAP-Tag_1.pdf ). When I went through sec...

Would this be safe?

Just curious...

Would it be safe/possible to put a drop or two of essential oils directly into my humidifier?

Add me to the list of people who love the Wii. I just got the EA Sports Active and have only used it twice, but I'm loving it too.

Re: Can Sleep Apnea Cause Celiac Disease?

OK, I can accept that the chronic physical stress of sleep apnea could result in the "activation" of celiac disease. Or other conditions, as well.
